I know some good tricks on these cars to make power for cheap. I used to have an '87 WE-4 T-type, the third rarest intercooled turbo Buick. They only made 1,547 of them, exactly 1000 more than the GNX. I believe the second rarest was the Turbo Regal Limited, which they made about 1,047 of, I believe. I loved that car. You are going to have a smile a mile wide the first time you feel the boost kick in. The torque is unbelievable.

Sweet! One of the cheapest and easiest mods you can do is make an adjustable wastegate rod. Costs like $5, if that. You take the rod out, measure the length, cut a chunk out of the center of it, throw the chunk out, then thread each side of where you removed it and install a threaded sleeve in place of the removed piece. Tighten the ends of the rod into the sleeve until it's the same length for stock boost, but if you want to up the boost, disconnect one end of the rod and turn the ends in to shorten the rod - instant boost increase ( just remember to either run race gas or methanol injection, otherwise you will get major knock ). The first things to buy for mods on that thing are: Custom chip - makes a huge difference in power. Scanmaster - is great for checking all your vitals on your engine and can be used at the track to verify you're not getting knock. Aftermarket boost gauge - stock one is marginal. 3 inch downpipe - faster spool up and more power. Adjustable fuel pressure gauge - If you up the boost, you'll want to up the FP. Walbro 255 pump with a hot wire kit. ABSOLUTELY MUST have if you plan on making any power over stock. The factory fuel pump is barely able to handle stock power. Mass air pipe - gets rid of the leak prone and restrictive factory bellows. I believe that's it... It's been awhile since I owned my turbo Buick, so I may have missed something. That stuff should get you into the 11's in the 1/4 mile and you don't even have to go inside the engine at all!
