Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!
If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please contact us!

Brian speaking from alot of experience on builing these engines, tear it down to bare block and have the block checked for cracks, and also have it cleaned, you dont want to half way do this..I know what you are going through..2 yrs ago i built mine from the ground up,got a little impatient and spun a rod bearing...also if your still running the oil cooler,by pass it,this will help with the low pressure these engines are known for..if you need any help dont hesitate to call me 586-718-5011 mike...thanks again for your help with the electrical gremlin..i owe you one..
Do you think there's really a chance of cracks though? I mean up until yesterday it ran damn good... just don't know how much damage for sure we did, which I guess is the big problem there in itself. No oil cooler, even bypassed the fittings on the radiator and the water pump for the oil cooler lines.
if the bearings arebad i'd take the block out and ship it out and get everything looked at if the pistons are fine y replace them just get new rings...

Considering all the past issues I would make no excuses and get it all done right which means a complete overhaul with all new parts pistons, rings, bearings, (Oil pump) upgrade the rod bolts.
This way you are done and no worries !

Holy shit biran! I am soo sorry to hear this! Seems like we both might be down for a little while, I at least need to pull the heads, 99% sure I need a set of lifters . Hoping its not a rod knock.
Ah yes, the same view I had when I drained my oil and checked the oil filter on my v6 when the bottom end went south. I was able to drive it into the garage too when it looked that way, just had no power.
Changing the oil is not going to help that thing, you need to breakdown the bottom end and rebuild it with new bearings and all. Check the crank and see if it is alright with just turning it, etc.
been there done that, I feel for ya. Too rich and fuel washed by the rings and jacked things up.
Time to do a stroker now B.
Hang in there, it will come around.

Sucks to hear, impatience never seems to pay off. Take it to a trustworthy engine builder and have them look it all over perfect, yes its going to take a LOT of time and money but you can't just do the bare minimum and expect things to work out. Do it right once, even if that means no red alert for a while..

Well you for sure have killed the bearings and rings so that is one place to start.
To help keep the cost down you could do a 355?
Bore it .030 over with stock crank, rods and .030 over pistons.
You will have some money into it but it will be sound.
