Thanks Joel! I agree I might be able to get away with no stripes maybe.
They would work with a 1" spacer/adapter but I am hoping to sell them and buy the right offset wheel so the wheels will have more of a "dished" look. (non FWD /new wheel look)
If they don't sell in a few weeks I will consider using them.

I love those wheels on that car. Here a pic on my old junker with drag stars on it which was fitting since it was set up for drag racing.

very nice! I was debating painting mine a darker blue. I looked into lightweight wheels but lets face is my car has enough power to turn a 100 lb wheel. lol j/k

Yeah mine has enough power (BBC) to turn a 100lb wheel too but the deal was to good to turn down. I am actually changing the way my car is setup and am heading in the same direction as you but a lot more towards pro-touring direction. Is the color on your car the OEM color?

Here is a site to a Michigan guy I used to work with. He makes parts for our A-Body cars plus his full restro jobs are AMAZING... I learned a lot from TonyG the owner about fabrication while he was working at GM proving grounds..

Also Detroit Speed is moving into the A-Body world but they haven't been in Michigan for about 8 years now. The owners of Detriot Speed used to work for GM.

After going back through the post I have a few questions. If your car was built that way I would love to know the number of cars built with the options it has. It seems rare compared to much of the research I have done on Chevelles.

1) Did you ever find the build sheet when you tore it apart?
2) Have you done the research on the Vin and build tag?
3) Did this car have a rear stab bar?

Reason I am asking it's RARE to see a Malibu with an SS dash which is what the dash with deluxe gauges were mainly used for. I've heard of some being installed in Malibu's but have never seen one till yours. They also made a dash that was that same style with idiot lights plus the Malibu dash with the long flat speedo. I have one of the SS gauge dashes with lights that I was going to modify to fit real gauges just to be different. Your cars seems to have a ton of SS options that could if it was built that way make this car rare in production numbers. FYI if your car was built in Canada they say you can still get the build records on the car.

i believe everything on that car is original to it EXCEPT for the color. Brian showed me the window sticker, that thing is pretty loaded up.

What I meant is my car will be mid 14 second car on a good day. So it will not be as fast as I would like it to be. I am slightly headed towards a very mild pro-touring genre while on a very limited budget. I call it "pro cheap", without replacing/engineering everything, my 3,000 lb cobalt SS will handle better than my chevelle every will. Yes it is OEM color, it called marina blue and was offered in 1967.
I plan to order some 550 in/lb coil springs up front to replaced my 330lb/in springs. I am considering buying tall ball joints and adjustable upper control arms to correct the poor camber curve A-bodies have. 17" wheels will help it handle better, but bigger brakes and fuel injection are NOT in the budget for this car.

Yes, A guy I work with used to work with the owner of DSE. DSE makes great products but they are expensive. Personally I would buy suspension parts form SCandC and the brake upgrades from Kore3. Any company that recommend the use of a B-body spindles......run!

Good Eye! Yes my car is an highly optioned Malibu. It has electro tip wipers (331 units), fiber optics lamp monitoring (5,775 units), F40 suspension(3.31 12 bolt), tinted windows, power disc brakes, AM/FM radio, and a few others. Many people consider the deluxe gauges to be on SS cars but it was available on non SS models. I have to look my window sticker to tell you how much it cost.
1. That being said I have have original window sticker, and build sheet for the car.

My mistake. I meant to say "not" For many weeks I considered adding a fuel injection set up but in the end it would be too much money to install correctly. baffled gas tank, high pressure fuel lines, fuel pump, FI kit. It would be at least a $2,000 project.

At that price I can deal with the character and mileage a carb gives. Plus there is always...down the road will parts be around for this fuel injection kit?
Thats why If I ever do a brake upgrade it will be based on a C5 corvette so calipers and pads are readily available.

You would be suprised the millage you can get out of a vacuum secondary carb on cruise when set up properly. Eric L

Update!
The past few months I been side tracked as I was fixing up my 93 camaro. A few days ago I refamiliarized myself with where I left off on the chevelle. Unfortunately the progress I made turned out to a big step back.
I did install my sill plates. Usually this task is a no brainer but I had to drill holes because my driver side rocker is new, then you have to trim the carpet so the sill plates sit flat.
My next challenge was to diagnose the fuel gauge, after some guidance from a co-worker we determined the guage/ circuit board is at fault so I had to take the dash back out. This week I hope to check off a few more items on my list and make some phone calls about wheels/tires.

urgh this car was so close... but yet so far away...

Now that the camaro is done for now we can concentrate on this again, I am always willing to come by and help.
