Looking really great B! Two things, first what is the wire in the Fuse box?, and second where did you get the bump stops from and how much?

wow I have not been active on here in a while and just noticed youve got this beast all together and on the road

the camaro looks AWSOME ....or above awsome if there is a word for that

only thing i think it would benifit from greatly style wise is a polished intake elbow

Thank you, sir! I wanted the intake system to be "low key" and blend in which is why I went with the blacks. Wanted all the stainless and the engine itself to stand out.

Thank you sir! Very much so. The wiring wasn't too bad - realizing that we needed ground was the embarrassing oversight that made it take longer to sort out.

Don't feel bad - I never really knew what they were but had heard about them before. Upon talking to Craig and him trying to point them out to me, I've realized that my car has no bump stops on it - front and back. On the 4th gen, the rear bump stops mount right in the inner fender above the axle and kinda between where the shocks and springs are.

B. everything looks excellent! nice job all around. As for the bump stops did yours just rot and fall off? I know on my old car when we did the rear end swap the rubber bump stops were there yet but were cracking/rotting, I can imagine how after time, (especially on a DD), those would fall off.

Thanks B! Like I said I bottom out a lot in my thirdgen I should look into this on my car and see if I have/had them. They might need replacing!

I would imagine that's what happened. Those winters really took a toll on the car. My front sway bar's mounts at the a-arms were totally corroded away and was not bolted down, the rear suspension was REALLY rusty, etc. I don't even think I have front bump stops either.

4th gens had a different size rear bump stop for cars with 17's also, SLP had some when people would upgrade from 16's to 17's.

Bump stops are in and so was the 2000 gauge cluster. As well as my full 1995 OEM Service Manuals w/ Update Manual!

As expected, the 2000 gauge cluster did not work. I e-mailed Trans Am Creations to see if I can swap for the 1997 gauge cluster. If he doesn't let me do it, I'll have to buy the 1997 gauge cluster outright which will mean I've spent $400 on the gauge clusters alone. Sure hope I can resell the 2000 gauge cluster fast!

I also downloaded DataMaster and drove around the block with that installed. WOW - DataMaster is like 100x better than FreeScan... but there's a $120 price difference there too. I was totally surprised when I saw DataMaster actually gives you your transmission temperature? Shit I don't need to buy a Trans Gauge - I just need to get something that will read it from the PCM when I'm driving and have it display on the carPC! I also love how you can "Play Back" the log files and see the graph that shows you the RPMs, TPS, etc.


So, after reviewing my drive around the block with DataMaster - it's becoming more apparent that either the VSS wiring isn't right or the VSS itself isn't right. Thanks to the Service Manuals, we were able to see exactly what wires are wrong and even the diagnostic routine on how to troubleshoot the vehicle speed sensor.

OH! AND - The Service Manual says when DTC 24 is active (which it is, VSS error), it defaults the transmission to 3rd gear. GEE - sounds familiar! So, a lot of things that we've been talking about seems to be related to the VSS. We need to troubleshoot it and get it fixed.

How is it getting trans temp?

Absolutely no clue in all honesty... I just know that DataMaster shows "Trans 63.5*C" so it must have a temp sensor somewhere.

After 20 minutes of driving, it was at 63.5*C or 146.3*F and that was the highest it got.

Yeah on the Trans Temp - but that's pretty sweet. Definitely incorporate that into the CarPC!!!

But yeah - you have an issue with your speed sensor, swapping clusters wont really fix that, I don't think.
