  • Oh and by the way guys - I know you mentioned it, Jeff. How exactly can I get the roller rocker arms to be centered on the valve stems? The guide plate makes it all but impossible - with the way the guide plate positions the push rods, the roller rocker arm simply will not center on the valve stem.

    • well I'm not sure if the LT1s are different but I just held mine in place with my fingers and torqued them down to spec.

      • Yeah - I'm not sure. I'm going by what I read on CamaroZ28 where the one guy said that he's positive 95% of the time a cam swap is not going to change the pushrod length so I don't think it's the push rod length making the lifter off center. He also said as long as the roller rockers are "mostly centered" (I think he said within 0.080") that it was OK?

          • Haha there's no word for how excited I am. I've been remoted into work since 10am while I roll out Service Level Agreements in our Service Desk environment (goes live at 8am tomorrow) and it's all overtime work. Only been coming on here to post while I wait for things to load or save. I've timed it, this one type of rule in the Service Desk takes 2 minutes to save [timed it on my iPhone] and I've had like 10 rules to save so far.

But anyway, they aren't allowed to pay overtime so they'll probably ask to give me comp time off. I'll probably be asking for Thursday, Friday, and maybe Monday off.

                    • If your cam has the same base circle as the stocker then your pushrods shouldn't have changed, however did you have the heads milled at all? That and your gasket combo as well as your lifter preload determine your pushrod length so it may have easily changed.

                      • This same guy was saying that Joel's combination should have been fine with stock push rods. Heads were milled like 0.001 or 0.010 whatever makes more sense.

                        • 10 thousandths shouldn't make much difference, heck I added 30 thousandths to my pushrods because I had that size lying around and you always have some wiggle room with lifter preload.

                          • Yeah - from what I'm reading on Cz28 I'll have to measure to see how centered it is but it sounds like it being a little off center is OK.

I wonder if they gave you the front ones instead??

The problem we had is: the bolt length right out of box with everything on the bolt but the frame and sway bar. left 3/8 of an inch past the nut. When you install everything on just with frame you lost 1/8 of and inch. then if you put swaybar on with that the mount area of sway bar was 3/8 inch or more. even forcing everything together as tight as possible best we could do is bolt would barly come even to bottom washer. No room left on bolt to get nut even started with 1 thread or 2. I have done end links on a number of cars 1st time I had such a problem.
