    • coming along nicely I see welding the pick-up tube is a very good Idea. make sure you install the pick-up tube and measure from the pan rail to the tip of the pick-up. then measure the pan, to measure the depth to insure your not bottoming out the pick-up on the oil pan. there should be a 1/2in of clearance if not you will have to massage it accordingly. The spring upgrade was a good Idea your oil pressure will be much more stable. As far as degree the cam, I would't worry about it in this application as this is not a max effort built. Thanks for getting inj's lol

      • Will do

Working with Creight to order a dedicated tranny cooler and some poly bushings for the motor mounts and transmission mount. The bushings are good but I felt it'd be a good thing to do "while the engine is out."

            • I ABSOLUTELY FREAKING LOVE that wire brush that attaches to my dad's drill press. The first handful of pictures are showing the progress of how nasty the pipes looked and how great they looked when all wire-brushed up. Also, in some of the pics, pay attention to the canister that's attached to the pipes and how clean it looks in the final pics with the intake manifold assembled with the injectors and fuel rails. That wire brush is AMAZING.

                • Yeah, I know. I realized that after I got it back together. I've got a full engine gasket kit which has those. I showed my dad the intake and he goes "Did you replace the o-rings?" And my response was Going to take the whole thing apart tomorrow and replace the o-rings.

                      • Yup, lubed and replaced the o-rings. Man the new ones go in so much better ... though that could've just been the lube too.

Throttle body is back on. Now we're going to go outside and work on the reassembly some more...

By the way, for anyone in Macomb, I highly advise never going to the Autozone at 22 and Van Dyke. We had some old man that was being a dick talking down to us. "Well if you're putting a v8 in and you have a v6 the harness from the v6 isn't going to plug into the v8..." ...NO SHIT, SHERLOCK. We needed the coolant temp sensor that screws into the water pump but ours had the plug broken off and he wanted us to go home and cut the harness off for the plug and bring it in so he could make sure we were giving him the right one. We said no thanks and bought the one that looked like it was correct. Meanwhile, while we were dealing with him, the guy at the register was rather loudly saying "I CAN'T RESET YOUR CODES, SIR, UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY THE $80,000 FINE THAT WE'LL GET CHARGED. JUST UNPLUG THE NEGATIVE TERMINAL AND THAT WILL RESET YOUR CODES..." OK so you can't do it but you tell him how? To me that's just as guilty! Then back to the dousche that was helping us -- "I would never recommend Bosch spark plugs or else you'll be back in one week when they go bad. They're horrible spark plugs, I'd only recommend the AC Ultras." Yeah, OK buddy.
