Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!
If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please contact us!
I'm still going to buy the body parts I need to fix Yoshi up, but not doing any more than that. No paint.
Im going to save this years tax return & combine it with my half of next years to afford me a decent LT1 Z28. And move my aftermarket parts to the z28.

Thats the plan.
If that's what you want to do, go ahead. . . Just an idea though, why not buy the parts needed to convert your current car over to an LT1 plant? It's been done before, and it's definitely an experience you can look back on with fond memories. Not to mention, plenty of the guys on this site would gladly turn a few wrenches in exchange for a few beers. . .
Cant really have any down time with it. I would love a V8 plant. But the condition of Yoshi with rust & yada yada . No thanks. I told Trisha when the z28 is mine. W e will still fix up Yoshi & she can drive it.
Dont bother with a swap, its not a financially smart way to go. You have the right idea in your head, fix 'er up to make it a good driver, and put the money into something you'll get more enjoyment out of.
Yea I plan on fixing rust. Have a shit ton on underbody & driver quarter.
Cant I just por 15 the underbody directly over the rust?
?The driver side got worse over winter. Really need to cut & weld before it takes over.
I'll get some pics 2morrow if I have time
That said, if you are short on air tools like grinders and whatnot, grab yourself an electric drill and some wire wheels. Get the rust out of there, fill it with some all-metal body repair, sand it, prime it, and paint it. That's the easy way. The best way is to remove rusted panels and replace them or "patch" them, depending on the severity and size of the affected area.
My Firebird has a couple of rust holes, VERY small ones, but they're still rust holes, I'll be tackling that project this summer. Hoping to fix the body up some before too long, I'm in the same boat, trying to prevent the damage from worsening. Probably won't have to use any patch panels, but I have to take a look at the quarter panels to see if they worsened at all over the winter.
You degrease/clean the area with "Marine Clean", then use their "Metal Ready" spray on the area, as directed. Rinse it off and make sure the area is "bone dry" (as they say), and apply the POR-15.
Oh, and wear glove/long sleeves/a fully contained HAZMAT suit - this stuff stays on your skin for a while....
Gone but not forgotten: 1986 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z
Installed the new seats today. Stupid bolts were a big PITA to get out because rusted down and stripped with many curse words thrown out with me and mike (outlaw_53) they are finally installed. Passenger side wouldnt move back and forth so had to swap the brackets on the bottom of the seat from old ones.
When I go to saginaw. Im going to steam clean them. Anyone know where I can find the 30th ann. cloth REAR seats let me know
Only decent picture that turned out with the camera phone. Installed green LEDs in instrument panel, HVAC, auto shift plate, and head light switch.
Long story short, my mini crack on my dash pad extended about 6 inches. Stupid thing was not cooperating at all, but will get another one. Maybe even wrap it. The headlight switch was another PITA... I swear Yoshi hated me today. There was a little spring compressor and a very very very very tiny ball that popped out and didnt know where exactly it went in. But finally figured that one out. All in all, I am very happy with them.
