Wow didn't expect this kind of response. Thanks guys. Im leaning twords the ls1 swap a little more. the problem is if i build the 6 ill make a 12 sec car but if i get the 8 ill want to make it a 10 sec or faster eventuly. How much am i looking at for an engine swap. Obviously the price of the engine,(engine and trans about 7-8k or less w/o trans) K-member $500, proboly a new harness, not sure on price there. I can get cheap headers and y-pipe for $400ish. Do i need a new radiator and hoses? And don't i have to do something with the retearn on the fuel rails? What does that invlolve. Not too important but new gauge cluster. Will i need a new fuel pump to keep up with it?

now that im looking i can find cheaper ls1 more like $4000 some have some miles but not too much. Btw im not getting a V6 when a get a 5th gen. The minimum is the base v8 if not the better one. How much harder would it be to put an ls2 or ls6 in?

Save your $ for a 5th gen or sell the V6 and buy a LS1 car. To me engine swaps from V6 to V8 aren't worth the cost and hassle unless you're doing a carbbed drag car or something. If you ever decide to sell it you'll have a bastardized car that no one will want to buy. Pace Fabrications turbo kits are nice and give good power. He gave me a ride in it last year and I was impressed. There's also a 3.8 Firebird at Martin that runs 12.50's and he's only got a balanced and blueprinted stock motor and exhaust. The car still has full interior in it as well.

if you want to do a swap the cheapest way to do it is to find a donor car, typically one thats been totalled in the rear end. This way you have EVERYTHING that you could possibly need, and you can part the remainder of the car out for money.

The only people who defend the v6 cars are people that bought cars with them and are stuck with them. V8 guys know where it's at

Yeah, the 3900 V6 they put in the G6's now have around 275 hp and I hear they torque steer like crazy

so many misconceptions and bias here in all the v8 member posts, there is just not enough energy in my fingers to type everything.
times infinity. more the reason to inspire me to keep the 6 and spank you with it.

as for all this pricing debate garbage, justin (pacefabricating) on this website can build you a custom kit WELLLLL under 4,000 with "the works" and put you at 350rwhp.

All im going to say is see how far "wayyyy under 4k" will get you into FI. Do it yourself and prove me wrong. Sure he may have a v6 kit for that price, but the turbo kit itself is only part of the battle to get running right with FI. Trust me, i've been there.
