Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

twin turbos are NOT just for bling. They allow you to increase the efficiency of the set-up without sacrificing spool time. There is no way in hell my car could have made the power it did with the spool it had being just a single. However is that a good thing? Thats your own judgement. I like the saying, "Lag is for the traction, boost is for the action." With my twins, soon as i hit it anywhere i was at full boost and the set-up NEVER fell down. Twins are IMHO the ultimate for street performance, however i would still give up it's complexity for a simple blower any second after owning 2 twin set-ups. Just speaking from pure experience here.
I hear that the super chargers are more dependable, but what has to be done to my motor? And can I keep TPI. I really like the Idea of keping the motor it was born with. if you can't get the performance you want from that base motor just sell the car and get one that you can build to your perfomance needs!!! Just really wieghing options the car is going away here in a month or so and it will be getting completly redone!!! So I guess just go through and study and see what I want!!!!

Heres Answers To Questions
Other things to look at:
- what are you doing with the car? Keeping Up With My Sons 2006 Mustang GT 388RWHP with 150 Shot NOS
- whats your horse power goal? More Than 388RWHP
- highly recommend Intercooled. Most Deff.
- You will need new fuel system. Will Probably Eliminate In tank pump and go with high volume
- is this fuel injection or carb? TPI
- You would not need twin turbos. I don't know I want something that when I hit the throttle there is no LAG!!! ill tell ya right now force induction is expensive to do it right!! but it is very fun!! FOR SURE... Yeah I like the NOS in my sons Stang, But super charging is also an option I have to see what suits me best. I have heard that squires makes a twin turbo that runs from the back of the car forward any word on these. I seen them do a Corvette on one of the speed channel shows!!!!
Thanks

If supercharging is an option i would run the ATI procharger D-1SC, With your stock engine the gains are normaly around 55%+. You will be good to go if you upgrade your motor also, you will have plenty of room to move up in HP. Range.
Run a intercooled system, a good cam will really benifit with this system if you build an engine.
If you by chance build say a nice 355 or 383 with a good custom cam made for this type of combo, and good heads, you could easyly make 600rwhp but then again depending on your budget.
I went to the procharger site they start for the camaros at the 88 model year for thier super chargers I have 1987 Z-28 305 TPI The motor Code is "F"!!! What would it run me for a system for my car that would be pushing around 8-10 psi boost. but I want something that will go to like 12-14psi or more after I do motor mods!!!! It has to be something I can install with some alterations, I can do most things needed with a little guidance LOL!!!! I would mount the super charger where the A/C is currently mounted, A/C, Smog Pump and Cats are coming off & I am going with a true 3" dual exhaust system with headers. Long Tube Or Shorties? I need to start ordering parts before Wifey changes her mind or finds out how much I am spending on project,, (becuase you know she could always use a new pair of shoes instead of a new exhaust for my car LOL)
Thanks All This Info Is Going To Be Helpfull!!

yup the belt system would need to be upgraded to the 88. And the best bet is to get the one that pulls 15+ psi off the bat, Will be much cheaper in the long run for sure, cause to upgrade head units is very expensive.
so if i was you i would just do the D-1SC KIT right off bat. (intercooled)
- long tube headers for sure,
- you dont need true duals
i personally would go procharger hands down and never look back. Having been down this route, if i ever go again it will be with an out of the box ATI kit.
As for the Squires turbo set-up you mentioned. They work and have some good points to them. However IMHO, having all that piping running the entire length of the car is a PITA and reduces your ground clearance. Also being way back there, you have to run a scavenge set-up to return the oil which i am not a fan of what-so-ever. I had a scavenge pump set-up on my first kit and i hated that thing with a passion. I would not recommend an STS kit. A custom front mount kit could work well. Here are some points that i feel are necessary to have a reliable turbo set-up..
- turbo(s) mounted high to gravity drain
- turbos not near ANYTHING that can handle heat
- run blankets on the turbine sides
- have pipes routed over/through the k-member (NONE UNDER!)
- must be intercooled
- hotside pipes not close to anything that can't take heat (alternator and power steering come to mind)
- make wastegate(s) accessable to remove from piping for spring changes
- oil feed line fitting very accessable to make sure it is always tight
I'm sure i'm missing some but those are some very important keys IMO to a solid turbo set-up. The reason i will push a blower set-up more is also a space issue. With a turbo set-up, you have to mount the turbo (same as blower) but you also have to run exhaust pipes forward into your bay crowding up space. Then you have to run the downpipe(s) back out the engine bay to the rear. You have now at least 2, possibly 4 large pipes depending on set-up and single or twin (2.5"-3") that get VERY HOT! running all over your engine bay. If you go twins, you have to find a spot to mount that second puppy. With all these pipes, it makes getting your hands around in our already tight engine bays THAT much harder. A blower set-up has only piping for the cold side, and nothing gets hot like a turbo set-up. IMO, if you want reliability, you cant beat a blower.
Now there ARE some VERY reliable TWIN turbo kits out there. They aren't all a mess, however most are. If built correctly, you can have zero issues, however most people with custom kits or half ass jobs are battling issues non-stop.
From past experience, you simply CANNOT beat the power and curve a twin turbo engine makes, a positive displacement twin screw style blower will give it a good run for the money though. However, concerning downfalls and factoring in all the above, i would prefer to slap on a blower and enjoy the car!
Im leaning towards the super charger. Some people put those smiley's I just over puncuate!!!! Sorry

What are the draw backs of the STS system? From what I have heard and am reading they seem like a decent system but I am leaning towards a pro charger anyways.
