Can you use an intercooler without a Turbo or Super? Someone said it may help give me that Euro Sports Car Wind Down Effect. You know like the Lotus Espirit from "Pretty Woman"?

it would make about the same noise as a high flow air filter outside the engine bay... you would acctually hear it suck the air in and let up... if you plan on adding some boost later it would be worth it get it in and mounted its not going to hurt to run it... cooler air always helps performance... might give you an extra 5-10hp on a good day with an n/a car and a little better gas millage but they usually arnt to cheep for a decent one..

Thats awesome I will keep an eye out for one then. I am not to worried about the Go right now, but to have my car sound like a Euro Sports Car with American Muscle would be sweet!. What do you think of this. Is this thing for real???

you are not going to gain anything by putting it on a NA car, in fact it probably would hurt you becuase you don't have the boost forcing it through. Intercoolers are ment for people pushing a big amount of air into the engine and not for NA people. People with powerdyne superchargers on the 3.8l actually don't see that much of a gain from the intercooler until they are over 10psi. Turbos need the intercooler because they are making some really hot air that is going into the engine.

Just get a Cold Air Intake and you will have the sucking sound from that.

you can make your own or go with the SLP CAI. SLP is probably the best but the K&N one is in a close second. However they are both expensive.

i can make you a homemade kit if you want... do you have the scoops on your hood to take advantage of a air box setup though? or no? if not just buy a high flow filter... i have plenty of flex rubber line at my work from 2-5 inches about 1/4 inch thick... you will never wear the stuff out.. then you just route the filter somewere outside the engine bay... front bumper fender somewere so it can get away from the heat of the motor... it basically will cost as much as the filter and thats about it... a cheep high flow non k&N brand usually run for 25-35 bucks a K&N cone is around 40-60 new eaither way you will be better off than stock.

ya it looks great two nice filter with a blockoff plate above them to keep the hot air away... i dont know about that price though... i bet you could build it alot cheeper than what they are selling it for...

Ok for one please don't run an intercooler if you don't need it its stupid and pointless. That crap on ebay is junk don't buy that it sucks, you'd be better off mounting a blowdryer under the hood. Also no need to buy a cold air intake you can easily make one and its the same damn thing minus the brand name, buy the filter and let Dave help you mount it up. I myself have the SLP cai and I could have just as easily made the damn thing had I know back then. It may not make the noise your quite looking for but there should still be a nice sucking or whistle that you notice, thats why you pay that much more for a turbo lotus, cool noises come at a cost lol.

i mean its not going to scream but with a 3.8 i could make it as loud if not louder than a stock v-8 pretty easy...

wow mine doesn't whistle or suck at all. My friend has an 03 dodge ram and he put a cai on his and it sounds so loud and completly different. Maybe its just how mine is setup.

well yours is still in the air box tight under the hood isnt it? and your still running a flat filter not a cone if its an air box... you get the sucking sound mainly from cone filters drawing from all directions and no box covering it... makes the sucking sound just pulling it all in... and to make it a little louder you put it ouside the engine bay.. so besides the reving you hear the sucking of the air as your rpm's increase too... you could make a briggs and straton sound mean if you tryed..lol
