edelbrock shorties and stock y question

well i picked up a set of edelbrock shorties for $40 and im wondering if they will bolt upto my stock y pipe flange wise?

if not id rather know now before i rip anything apart and find out the hard way,

if not what can i do to install them short of replacing my y pipe?

i think the guy i bought them off of has the y pipe ill ask him

Isn't that the idea of getting shorties? Is to maintain your stock y pipe and therefore pass emissions.

thats wat i thought too, but arent the flange ends different?

for example y pipe end is female manifold end male,

i have a female end on my new headers,

asked the guy ibought the headers from and he has the y pipe, he wants 20$

I'm not sure but if you can tune out/remove as many emissions as possible through aftermarket headers and an off road y pipe. Especially for that money I'd be all over it

if i get the y pipe ill have 91$ into the whole setup, normally you cant even buy just headers for that price or even just a y pipe,

I think the gain with long tubes is worth the price of them.

Also you can go to a exhaust shop and I supplied my pipe and they welded up my X pipe system for like 60 bucks. Thinking about selling my X pipe setup with cutouts.

im not a fan of long tubes ive had pacesetter long tube headers, always drug the ground and the collectors bent and would never seal right after,

but not sure what an off road y is but i know these are race style headers from what he told me

Something was messed up. Lots of us run them with no problems. Even on lowered cars.

i had them on two trans ams, one was a 95 ws6 clone the other was a 96 ws6, both were installed profesionally and i just had alot of issues with them, i like mid tubes, to me you have the best of both worlds,

the tucked y and the easy install

oh i was also wondering will i have to jack up the passenger side of the motor to get the header in place?

"shorty" is just a style of header, no requirement on bolting up to stock exhaust. Short tube, mid tube, and long tube all have different characteristics...then factor in equal length/tri-y/180* (almost positive there aren't 180* headers for f-body - I'd buy them in a hearbeat if I found them)

That's not what I mean,

you know how the stock lt1 manifolds bolt upto the y pipe it has a female end and the y is the male,
well I need to know if there is anyway to make this an easy install? Cause now I have two female ends, I'll post links to what I'm talking about
