I am looking around at headers, and remembered about the "ebay" stainless headers. Well, they are not there anymore, and LPP still has not made another batch. Since the only stainless headers that I can find for LT1 right now are Kooks, looks like I am going to have to go coated or painted. So what would you guys recommend?

i think if you get the painted ones you might be able to find a local powder coating company and get them coated for cheaper than what pacesetter charges . Just my .02

you cannot powdercoat headers, it will not stand up to the heat. There are other types of coatings that places can do though and you get what you pay for, I was quoted $250 by a local shop to have mine coated.Originally posted by QuickTop View Post

Herron Performance sells the coated LT1 Pacesetters for $399 shipped. That's pretty much your best option if you can't get stainless. Painted is only $100 less, and I promise it'll be much more than that to have them coated inside and out locally, although I'd bet it's a better coating.

Powder coat will burn off at 900 degrees. A lot of companies say they do high heat ceramic coatings, but the dip/high heat cure/vibrator polish is still the best way to go

I disagree with stainless being the only way to go. I have 7 years on my coated pacesetters and I only have light speckles of rust near the collectors. If I get 10+ years out of them im not going to cry about replacing a $375 set of headers. Also, stainless also does not insulate as well as ceramic coating = hotter engine bay temps. Ceramic coated stainless would be the best in my opinion.Last edited by JoeliusZ28; July 24th, 2012, 06:39 PM.-Joel

Not very often, but I wouldn't say I'm afraid of rain either.Originally posted by meissen View PostYeah but how often does your car see rain?

I think that partially accounts for why your headers would be mint.- Brian Meissen
