He doesnt have a muffler, that is what makes it illegal. I have been pulled over for mine as well and the officer actually looked under my car (well as low as he can get as my car sits on the ground lol) to see if my exhaust was legal. He was basically looking for a cat (which I dont have just a pipe there) and a muffler. He saw that was all there and told me I really should get my leaks or something fixed If you dont have a muffler I am pretty sure that is what makes it illegal.

if he has the slp loudmouth system he has a resonator, which is the "muffler" which I believe is legal, especially in states without emissions

Harleys dont have Mufflers. Half the nasty 90's 4 cyl dont either.

As far as headers, 2011 GT's pretty much come with them stock

I fully get that, I just walked over the the Police side of my office and asked just to see. His response was if I ever pulled someone over for exhaust (he said he never has nor never will) that it would be because he suspects something else and that cop must have been having a bad day or in a shit ass mood But he opened the law book and in some funky lingo it basically said if a cat and muffler are present then its legal. So maybe the cop didnt know what a resonator is or he probably didnt ask at all he just went on noise. There is however a "noise" violation in that case he'd have to dispute the DB level of his car.

I am not sure how Harleys get away from it I have no idea and not saying they have mufflers either.

Which makes it even more BS that you don't see them pulled over for the same thing. I have nothing against them, just looking for a little consistency

Did he write you up for not having a muffler or for your car being too loud?

For the car being too loud due to not having a muffler.

Well if you do replace your muffler umm I mean resonator I would suggest a magnaflow, I have it on my car and it sounds amazing. Are you gonna try and get out of the ticket?

It's just a fix it ticket. Just slap the muffler on it, have them check it and no fine.

Someone on the site is selling some magnaflow mufflers. You might want to look into it if you are still in need of something.

he would need a magnaflow bullet style muffler though unless he wants to add the muffler and keep the resonator in which case he'll have to hack and whack his current catback.

What a dick. Last I've read is that the limit is 110db in MI. Last fall the highest I hit was 109.5 with LT's, 3" Y and the Hooker. Bet I'm above that with an open cutout though. That's the beauty of an e-cutout..."what loud exhaust officer?"

                            Used to own a Firebird.

Actually the limit in Michigan is 110db at 3/4 of full power.

I think its complete bs, I had a loudmouth as one of my first mods to my car and while it was louder than stock its no where near any of my other exhaust setups. I didn't even get hassled with it until after I installed longtubes and H/C and then I got a ticket, but at that point it was stupid loud.
