  • Muffler Recommendations

I'm looking for opinions / recommendations on a new muffler. I currently have the SLP loudmouth system with just the SLP resonator and would like to quiet it down a little. The current set up is a little too much for long drives or taking the car out at night. Any suggestions on a good muffler?

I wanted to add a muffler to the current system without replacing all of it. I was leaning toward Magnaflow.

I have a magnaflow on my car and I love it, but my car also isnt an LSx

I used to have a flowmaster on it, but changed to the magnaflow to quiet it down a little, I havent looked back since.. I like the tone better too.

Powerflo conversion, Mike 02redcamaro did it and it sounds sweet, VERY deep. I dig it.

If you have the SLP LM1, maybe the SLP LM2 would be perfect and it is a direct swap.

Thanks Spencer! I ended up removing the LM1 resonator the other day and just stuck an I-pipe in there and the rasp is virtually gone!

Anyways, I'm assuming you don't have LTs because LM1 with headers is obnoxious! But I guess you could try a LM2 muffler or get the powerflo conversion which is two mufflers that bolt on the back.

You're right, I think I'll put the LM2 on it. It originally had the LM2 but the previous owner removed it. I have 21 days from yesterday to put one on!

Yep, I pulled out from my sub onto Middlebelt and he pulled right up behind me. When the light turned green, he pulled me over and gave me the long drawn out story about my exhaust being illegal. It's really not loud unless I get on it (which I didn't). I'm sure everyone here has heard a similar system or even has the same set up. In his words, if it doesn't have the same exhaust system that the car rolled off the assembly line with, it's illegal. Whatever, I'll get a muffler put on it and be done with it. He must have been having a bad day.

Thats exactly it. You were in the wrong place at the wrong time

Although, if I got a ticket for that, I would have been loud as hell after I had my ticket. lol.

After he gave me the ticket, I started the car and made sure it was loud as I pulled away. You're right, wrong place, wrong time. I bet he hasn't pulled over any Harley's for loud exhaust. The more I think about it, the more it pisses me off.

Sounds like he doesn't know the law, and was just on a power trip.

I would dispute it for sure, exhausts that are aftermarket can be perfectly legal and I believe that one is as well. If you don't have headers and just the catback I'd go down to the station and have them do a db test and sign off the ticket that should be perfectly fine by the law.
