Another update..... The new Magna Flow muffler wouldn't work with the LM2 system. The guys tried to get it to work but the configuration of the SLP LM2 system from the resonator to the Y-pipe wouldn't allow the install of the muffler. I sent the muffler back and bought the Magna Flow system from the headers back.

Not a bad idea!Originally posted by 92conv View PostIf you really want to keep your resonator there's a trick you can do to quiet it down long enough to have them sign off on the ticket.....
I use to have a car in HS with sidepipes, I'd get pulled over quite often for it being to loud. I'd stuff some Steel Wool in the pipes enough to quiet it down, and have a cop sign off that it was fixed. I'd get down the road, really step on it, and poof my lovely exhaust note was back.
..............
Just another idea.

I went with just the muffler. I'm curious how it will sound being plugged into the LM2 system.

Just an update, I sent the LM2 back and ordered a MagnaFlow today and will be installed Monday. The SLP LM system is just too obnoxious.

Thanks for the heads up. I ordered the LM2 muffler today. It will slide right in, with no problems.

I think its complete bs, I had a loudmouth as one of my first mods to my car and while it was louder than stock its no where near any of my other exhaust setups. I didn't even get hassled with it until after I installed longtubes and H/C and then I got a ticket, but at that point it was stupid loud.

Actually the limit in Michigan is 110db at 3/4 of full power.Originally posted by Fbomb View PostWhat a dick. Last I've read is that the limit is 110db in MI. Last fall the highest I hit was 109.5 with LT's, 3" Y and the Hooker. Bet I'm above that with an open cutout though. That's the beauty of an e-cutout..."what loud exhaust officer?"

he would need a magnaflow bullet style muffler though unless he wants to add the muffler and keep the resonator in which case he'll have to hack and whack his current catback.

It's just a fix it ticket. Just slap the muffler on it, have them check it and no fine.Originally posted by JSTALT1 View PostWell if you do replace your muffler umm I mean resonator I would suggest a magnaflow, I have it on my car and it sounds amazing. Are you gonna try and get out of the ticket?
