Hello all, not sure if this is the right spot to post this if not I apologize and please move it to the appropriate place. I'm in the middle of doing a starter on my girlfriend 04 chevy trailblazer 4x4 4.2 i6 engine, I replaced it an fired it up everything was fine, until I realized I heard the starter motor still running. I quickly turned the key off and the starter motor was still running, it was disengaged from the flywheel but the electric motor was still going... Anyone have any ideas on why its doing this? I'm at wits end and getting very frustrated with it!

sounds to me that the key relay is not coming off the start selection and to the run. constantly completing the circuit to the starter. sounds like a wiring issue.wishing i could drive like joe and the atm squad

The starter is a reman. so i was wondering if there was any way it be backfeeding power from the solenoid to the motor causing it to stay running?1995 Firebird Formula (Sold but not forgotten)

you can try taking the starter back and exchanging it to me it sounds like the starter solenoid is stuck closed. completing the curcuit

Get it exchanged out and have them test the new exchanged starter before leaving the store, they are greats trucks, love my I6'91 Camaro Modded, LSx, House of Kolor Intense White, lowered, GS chrome 18" wheels, 14" Brembo CTS-V on all 4 corners, LS rear end, FP suspension components

Yeah its got to be a starter problem. I say that because the drive disengaged. If it would have stayed engaged then there's something wrong. The something is going on with the solenoid ..
