I am going to check FP and spark, Ive had a couple peopole locally suggest TPS, But anytime ive ever had tps issues with other vehicles, it has thrown a check engine light, which I have not had happen on the camaro. I have, just to be sure, scanned the car with my scan tool and sure enough, NO CODES PRESENT....SOOOOO. If I check the FP and checks out good, and I check the spark and if it checks out good, then where do I turn?
Again, the VATS system has already been bypassed as I was thinking that was my issue, but it made no difference. Ive also had someone suggest the ECM.
is there a diagram somewhere showing where all the grounds are in the system? or is it a process of ripping the whole car apart and replacing all the harnesses? If so, the car will be for sale. I dont have time, money, or paitence for all that mess

I already know what yoir problem is... very very weak fuel pump.

Had the exact same thing happen with my 93 z28 a few years back.
Would drive just fine. But above 5k rpm it would act like a pissed
Off horse.. buck, backfire, no power. Let off the gas to a lower
Rpm and it would be fine.

My pump was going out slowly. By the time a changed it I had
16psi at the rail and it would instantly be gone...

Running. I had 8 psi. But 4 months prior to that I checked it
And it was normal. So I ruled it out.once I changed that pump.
My car what a whole new animal. Hit the key it fired right up.
Just the slightest touch pn the gas and it was moving.

I took that car way past suggested crank rpm without even
          So much as a hicup.

Try your fuel pump. And on the slight chance that's not it

Check the coil to opti plug wire.
Mine also acted the same way. That wire was bad.

If that checks out. Time for an opti.

thanks! I was hoping someone would chime in that has had the same issue or at least something very similar that could relate. Ill try to check those things this weekend.

I was busy doing yard work all weekend and didnt get a chance to check the car out, I did talk to an old mechanic that used to work for my dad years ago and he recalls all the issues with the optis and recommended I check that out as well. How hard is it to get to the opti? and if it does in fact need a new one, ( I was told it had a new one when I bought it) is a stock replacement fine or is there a aftermarket solution that is better than the next? and what do they cost?

Just gotta remove the water pump and crank pulley. There are alternate ignition timing things but they're expensive as hell. I've heard to go either msd or oem, and NOT accel. Just remember to
Put the spline drive back on the water pump/opti. this is also a good time to do a coolant flush

Sent from my car phone using shiftatalk 2

no not yet I haven't, unfortunately had to pull the battery to use in my truck so now I need a battery before I can even check the fuel pressure I've read a lot today online about the ignition module going bad and wondered if that might be my problem as well.
I stopped by a shop today on my way home from work but I cant afford $80 an hour for labor
I wish there were people around my area that had more experience with these LT1's but unfortunately there's not

Did you even check this for spark? Jeez its so easy to check. Pull the wire off, then put a plug in it, hold it to a piece of metal, crank check for spark. (Don't hold the plug you will get poked with like 40000v)

Now before I go on to help you, you need to do two things. You need to check fuel/spark. You said fuel primed. To what exactly? Was it in specs?
I need to know if its sparking.

I have not had a chance to yet, Ive been so busy at work and with the PD, I had to work the County youth fair. I'm going to try to check it for spark this week and a buddy is bringing his FP gauge over next week to check FP. Obviously fuel pressure is easy enough to check, there is a set value that it has to have (43lbs, is that correct?) and is it supposed to saty at 43lbs at all times, at prime, at starting, and running? I guess what im asking is this, what is "normal"? as for checking spark, is there a way to test the amount of spark? to make sure it is a hot enough spark? I could probably check for spark tonight when I get home, given my wife dosent send me all over the country side running kids here and there.

                            I GOT IT FIXED!!!!!!!!!!!

Its been over a year but I finally figured out why my camaro had the starting issue! it was blind luck. fuel pressure was good, battery was good I was messing with it one day and noticed when I turned the key to the ON pos. the dash didnt light up and the pump didnt prime. i grabbed a hold of the key and cylinder and gave it shake and everything powered on, turned to the start pos. and it lit right up! ALL THIS TIME AND IT WAS A $35 IGNITION SWITCH!!!! ITS FIXED AND RUNNING!!!!!
I had guys telling me " ehh, just sell it for whatever you can get out of it and cut your losses" WTF!

Yes, Replaced it Memorial Day weekend. been working fine since. Car is ready for an oil change the registration finally renewed lol. I took it out yesterday around the block to "blow the dust off" I can tell it needs some fresh gas! lol Once in a while it cranks a tad longer than it should but after a couple of revelutions it fires right up. and it dosent do it everytime. I'm going to take it of to a local gas station in Coloma once its legal and put some 110 and 93 mix in it to clean everythnig up. one thing I noticed yesterday though. when I kicked it and the engine started pulling hard just before letting off i heard the belt let out a little "squeek" like it was starting to slip under hard load. thnik it just needs a new belt? or maybe the tenioner failing?
