  • tuners please step in

just picked up HP Tuners. even tough I plan on having my car dyno tuned by Dr. Phill, I need to begine learning this stuff. what I have is a 5.3l/4l80e with a 76mm turbo. and im going with E85 for fuel and have a 2 bar sensor. with 96 pound smart fire injectors.

all im trying to do is get this car running well enough to do multipal test drives with 0 boost to break everything in and work mechanical bugs out. before I take it to the dyno.

the 1st file I will post is a base tune I found threw a friend at howell EFI. and the 2nd is me playing with it alittle trying to teach myself. I adjusted the afr to 9.799, disabled torque management, enabled the 2nd fan. and disabled the egr.

    thanks for any help.

If you want to PM your serial number off your cable I should be able to look into those files and alter/save files. Up to you if you want to do that.

You should be able to take a stock bin and alter the injector rate to get it to run w/o boost on the standard MAP sensor. I forget if HPtuners or if EFIlive had the custom os for 2bar setups

not t the moment. I have a ntk wide band sensor and a Delphi controller but its a pain to use but extremely accurate. I need to find a more useful controller and gauge. but it will be a few weeks.

I have a fresh Zietronix Zt-2 that I'd be willing to bring across the state

Not for sale, but you can borrow it. I was planning on tuning Tyler's Yukon soon so we don't have to keep sending chips back and forth.

Does your HPtuners cable have a 0-5v input for datalogging?

Some of the info is meh - but it'll get you started.

Also look on hptuners forum and see if you can find some good 2-bar SD histograms.

I wouldn't change much until you have a wideband. You've got the AFR set for e85, set the injectors size and maybe get the timing table ready for boost.

Once you get a wideband and the histograms setup - it's basically log, then copy and paste from the histogram into the ve table, and repeat until you are happy.

Do you have the Pro version with the analog inputs?

How are you handling the 4l80? Segment swap or one of the other methods?
