  • My newest problem... Please help! 96 LT1 Camaro

Here is a vid of what is going on. Just a quick description: Car fires right up, idles fine for a bit, maybe 30seconds-1minute. Then it starts getting erratic and the fuel begins to climb. It usually almost hits about 50psi then dies, from what i think is flood related. But I am stumped, and I need some help.
Note: I just removed the EGR system completely, and have yet been able to drive it since! It has to be related. I can't drive it ten feet without it dying. Then it won't start for a while afterwards. Rechecked all the block off plates today and resealed them, they are sealed for sure. Meissen Sr. mentioned the plates might be leaking causing the fuel to try and compensate for the difference. But that doesn't seem to be the case. The car was just started at the beginning of this vid.
My Chiltons manual says a faulty EGR will cause the car to stall at low r's and run like crap down low. Will removal do the same thing?!? Everyone said this wouldn't affect the car at all.

The pressure climbs because you're losing vacuum when it misfires.

What did you do with the solenoid that controls the EGR vacuum? And the vacuum line leading to it?

The solenoid is in the garage on the bench, just disconnected it. I just plugged the vac. line that connects to the manifold from the solenoid.
Brake booster line was hooked up during the vid, just unhooked it for ease of view.
Yeah it does seem to be hissing loud... seems like it's always been there though. I think its my alt. spinning with shitty bearings.

hissing sounds like alt for sure.

              Is it throwing any codes?

Take the MAF and unplug it and see if it changes at all

Is your car tuned at all?

My car runs fine with no AIR and EGR, but I do have a tune from madtuner.

I definitely do, and I'm down for that! Only thing is I'm picking up some Pacesetter LT's this weekend and wanted to tune it for that as well. What would you charge just to tune out the AIR and EGR? And can you tune for the headers as well?
Feel free to call me or text 517-442-6592, Im up all the time lol.

Just out of curiosity - I remember discussing this elsewhere so it might not have been for your car. Check the vacuum line that runs between the fuel pressure regulator and the intake manifold. Pop out each side and see if either side is wet with gas and inspect the line itself. If that vacuum line looses vacuum it will make the regulator dump more fuel in.

                            Will do Brian.
I also forgot, I got rid of this too. Didn't really know what it was, but the lines broke during the EGR delete so I just ripped it all out and capped off the vacuum port. The "T" thingy with all the lines ran through the firewall, i was assuming it was part of the HVAC. and the other line ran to a vacuum port on the intake, which i capped off(pointed to it with screw driver: here's some pics.

^^This is the port that I capped off once I ripped out this vacuum line connection, which is the last pic here. The pic with the ECM is where this vacuum piece was sitting and then routed through the firewall..

Yes it does, I stated that I took the plates off and re did them. That was an old pic. They are surely sealed now. And believe it or not, that was torqued down tight in that pic. I just used that as a reference to what I did.
