when you push on the rear how many times does it bounce up and down? i believe if its more then 1 or 2 they are bad... i cant remember

To BigJon's respnonse, if the car bounces more than 3 times the shocks are bad (by PA state inspection standards, anyway). That doesn't mean that the bushings on it aren't bad though. Just the hydraulic part of them.

My guess is that it's a bushing. Possibly shock or trailing arm. Don't count out a misaligned/loose exhaust! If it makes noise while you jounce the car then have somebody jump on it while you poke your head underneath! Or if it's hard to get your ear in there you can use a piece of heater hose to use as a stethoscope.

If there's a squeaking bushing WD-40 or close to it will work to locate the noise, but can get messy. I've found that a strong dishsoap/water mixture in a cheapo squirty bottle works just as well, is much cheaper and cleans at the same time

its usually the shock mounts in the car. All i did was added one more nut to each side and it was good that way vibrations and bumps couldnt loosen them back up.
