      Did you jump solenoid?

I was talking about the starter enable relay that is inside the car. Not sure if 87 had one, on my 89 it is located in the driver side kick panel. The park/neutral switch powers the relay which allows power to run to the starter solenoid

I did the solenoid but I will check that out when I get home. I feel like I swapped a wire wrong. The car started and ran fine before I build the harness. So the solenoid wire goes through the firewall at C100 and into the starter enable relay which is powered by the park/neutral switch?

Do you know where the ignition power relay is? Starter solenoid?

My car is in Allendale at the moment, working off memory right now.

Power for the interior comes off the positive post off the starter through a fusible link. There should be two red wires if I remember right, the purple wire is for the for the starter solenoid. One of the red wires should be for the headlight switch and the other should supply the ignition switch with power.

Hell, I'll be out that way tomorrow. It would be easier for me to just look at the car

Try it in nuetral. If not, try this. Turn on your headlights. Either have them shine on something you can see, or have someone watch them. Now, with the lights on try to start it and watch the lights.Did they flicker or dim? If not, the starter is not drawing power.
Next, put the aligator clip of a test light on the small wire on the starter. Have an assistant turn the key while you hold the test light to ground. If it lights the light. The starter is not working. If no light then you have another problem and no current is getting to the srarter from ignition

Another thought occurs to me. Are you sure you have the signal wire on the correct terminal on the selonoid?

Yeah the purple wire has a small round terminal that can only
fit on the solenoid signal spot.

Ok so I found my dumb mistake but still not fixed. I forgot to connector the park/neutral connector on the side of the shift. Now my starter just clicks. I tried three different batteries and got the same response. Any ideas?
