Negative cable directly to engine block, positive cable directly to the big post on the starter solenoid.

no I have the battery negative attached to the body. It wont reach the block. The block is grounded to the k member.

That's a problem. Block should be a direct ground to the negative terminal.

If it helps any, I believe the negative originally went to the front exhaust manifold stud on the passenger side. People often put it down low on the frame rail for some reason...maybe because that's it reaches, but it isn't correct.

I guess I am confused. When people relocate the battery to the rear they don't run a ground all the way to the engine block. They jus terminate it to the body.

Yes, but they also need to run a 0/1 gauge wire from the chassis/body to the engine block.

If you don't have a very good ground strap, you're trying to pull 125amps or more through some tiny wires. It will try to find any way to ground...which might happen to be through the ground wires for your ECM, hell I've heard of throttle cables burning up.

Ok so I have some 2/0 wire laying around. If I make a new ground wire from block to chassis is should be good?

Get the block grounded one way or another. Although that is some overkill 1/0 would be sufficient, even 1 awg would get the job done if you don't have extended cranking time. 2/0 can handle 250+ amps...I use that for my 295 amp arc welder.

Right. It's what I have laying around. Plus once it runs and battery is being relocated to the rear anyways

I would put one to each front frame horn

Ok I will build a wire tonight and try it. I have people telling me my new starter is bad so I am going to bench check it if this doesn't work

Use a socket p on rhe crank bolt make sure the engine is free to turn. Di the headlight trick I explained above. Is it a weak click ? Or is the starter trying to engage? Use a battery jump box or a charger to me sure you have enough power.
