    • Front Suspension Tear Down

Here's where I'm at with this project as of now...

Started by getting the STB off and unbolting the shocks/springs from above. Who's idea was it to put the one torx bolt underneath the mater cylinder on the driver's side? What a PITA...

Found some light surface rust or corrosion on the underside of the upper A-Arm mounting area - I'm going to clean the area and tape off a small area and hit it with POR-15 to make sure it never comes back.

I'm going to leave the lower A-arms and Spindles on the car and paint them in place, rather then tearing it all apart - I'm planning on tubular A-Arms eventually anyways.

The pictures below show how lucky I was to have had the shocks replaced a few thousand miles ago. These things should be cake to get apart and should be salvageable. I'm going to have a shop disassemble them and install my new springs - not worth dying over for the $20 they'll probably charge to do the work.

Had to again cut the sway bar end links in half - planned on replacing them anyways. I have a new set of MOOGs in the garage and the bar and links will be finished to match the rear (red).

Calipers and brackets are also being painted currently. I've got 3 coats of Duplicolor caliper paint on them so far, should be fine

I think that's about it for now... some progress pics below.

And one picture of how the car sits right now............

Some pictures of the upper A-arms (they have 2 coats of POR-15 on them as of now). Also some pictures of the shocks after disassembly and cleaning up the threads a bit.

              • Painted Parts Update

Well I have a bunch of freshly painted and new parts in the garage awaiting install this weekend.

                1. Got my springs/shocks back from being assembled today

                2. Calipers, brackets, sway bar and upper A-arms were blasted and are painted and ready for install

                3. I had my new set of tail lights polished - installed those last night! Anyone interested in a slightly damaged set?

I also started to paint the A-arms and spindles on the car, then decided to continue and do as much of the K-member as I could. I'm glad I did.

                Enjoy the pictures!

                    • Great job with the POR-15 Fred, looking GREAT!

And the paint on those calipers should hold up for quite some time, considering you put about 250,372 coats of paint on them.

                      • Lowered Video

Well, she's all put back together, just need to bleed the brakes!

I couldn't wait to see the new stance, so I slapped the wheels on and and set it down on the ramps (too much work to set it on the ground without a low-pro jack). I'm very happy with it so far!

                        Walk-around video below...

Haha, couldn't wait! Don't worry - their time is short lived. I think I'm going to get staggered 18s and 17s to give the car some rake
