    Thanks!

And yes, anytime you want to come out. But lets just hope you get a car ASAP!

not looking likely... Growing up sucks! If I get something it will be along the lines of a long drawn out project. I just do not see myself dropping the coin on the car that I want right now. So picking up a $1000 roller will be in my future soon, but it will also most likely be a roller all summer unless plans change.

Funny you say that... She did kinda sorta get another job offer today making more $$... No hardcore news on this yet, but if this is the case then you better believe there will be a sports car present in the new garage!

          • Well I'm catching A TON of heat over on Tech for my shocks... honestly guys, do you think they'll be that terrible? The car is a cruiser that will see the strip once or twice. I just can't see myself spending a ton of money on shocks. These Monroes have a lifetime warranty...

its fine. they prbly dont know what you are using it for. Im sure they arent the best option for drag racing, but still probably better than the stock 10 year old shocks you have. Im sure you will be very happy with them

I'm betting that lifetime warranty is probably void when used with aftermarket highrate springs.

Honestly Fred they will probably be fine for the short term (2 yrs max).
If you doubled your money for the Bilstiens you would be better off, even though they are not really designed for use with lowering springs either.

I have no problems offering people rides or drives in my car to see the difference a quality shock offers.

meh, for fred's use.. they will be FINE, 2 years? wow, I really hope you are kidding.. this car will be driven 6 months a year.. if any shock can't handle that it would be pretty pathetic.. I know you are crazy in love with your premium shocks, but don't let that make your facts absurd. This car is just going to be a street driver, not some constant autocrosser or even frequent drag racer..

                        so?

they wont know he has high rate springs. put them in the box and take them back. I do that with stock brake pads that ahve been on a car for 100k miles and they never question it. His shocks will be good enough for some spirited street driving. No need to spend $1000 on shocks to just go to woodward and back

Just keep your eye out for a set of Bilstiens or Konis...used, of course, on websites - you might find a deal you can't pass up! Otherwise, I believe it'll be all good.

                          • Awesome, you guys definitely made me feel better about my decision. Ryan and Derek, you're right on mark with the use of the car. It will see ~5k miles a year, and I think that's VERY conservative. I can't drive the car to work or school (not the best areas), so basically it will be my weekend leisure car with a trip or two up north, fbodys at the barns, or down to Ohio for the Pontiac Nationals.

Craig, I appreciate the advice - I know you're a suspension guru. Even if I only get 2 years out of them, I'll be happy. They cost me less than $60 for the rears. I will definitely be taking you up on the ride offer.

Ryan, do I really need to save the boxes? I don't have that kind of real estate in the garage! I will keep the receipt in my files tho...

                            • Would not have been my first choice, but the hell with those guys. Would have at least considered Bilsteins but you'll be fine....

If you ride in a few cars set up with different set-ups and find something you really feel the difference in, you can always upgrade.

May have posted over there to stir the pot, lol....

Thanks, and I'm sure you're right about upgrading down the line. While I had them out, I figured I'd at least put something new back in (plus that orange was killin' my color coordination under there ).
