umm I might be able to spend half of that though lol remember its BUDGET build. So in other words I'm going 347 with the stock crank polished and a nice set of hellfire rings with ______ pistons and _____ rods. Fill in the blanks and find me a good machine shop for the block and we'll pull this motor this weekend
      Doing less with more

        callies rods/ diamond pistons

Sucks to see this Jeff, maybe this will be a reason to keep your car though if you have to rebuild the motor?

What happened to his car is whats called Pre-detonation. Its when the shit combusts before the piston is at the top of the stroke. Much different than a simple misfire.

Prolly hard to sell it in its current condition though. Needs to be fixed to get any money out of it unless he wants to part it out. I would fix it with forged and use that as an excuse to keep it. If you still really need to sell it, fix with stock and sell your aftermarket goodies on the side.

Definitely looks like the result of preignition to me ...sorry to hear about it none the less...

FWIW - A good friend of mine is abandoning a LS2 swap project and is looking to sell the complete long block for 2K if you are looking to go that route...

Sorry many of you guys must have missed my last few posts but I'm keeping the car and buying a 98 cavalier to daily drive. Therefor I am going to build the bottom end SOLID with some nice forged pieces and a stock crank, I want this 347 to handle a 250 shot without worry and Russ I will definatly give Dave a call. Does anyone know if I should keep my 98 block or would it not be worth it?

Also if anyone is interested Jonny, Campbell and I will be dropping the k-member and motor on Saturday to kick this project off. Just gotta look at the positive its gonna come back bigger, better, and much faster the goal is bottom 11s on motor before any spray, and then hit it with a big shot but that is down the road a long ways.

I'd really like to do this but I'm too cheap and already have a great set of high flowing heads ect.
