I'd say it's negligible, minimal at best. If you're worried about that kind of mass then a stock DS isn't going to survive with your setup. I've seen an OEM aluminum DS come apart like a tube of Pillsbury dinner rolls on a mid 12 second car.

The smaller aluminum driveshaft has been on my car as long as ive owned it, its weathered all of my powershifting and a 12.5 second pass at the strip already. But i dont run sticky tires, ever.Originally posted by hoogiesngrinderz View PostI'd say it's negligible, minimal at best. I bought the bigger one in an effort to solve a driveline vibration that started 2 season ago when i busted a ujoint cap. It seems improved, yet still there. Not sure what I want to do with it at this point.-Joel

Said car was a 385 LT1. Also popped a 9" center at Stanton. Car was cursed, seriously.Originally posted by JoeliusZ28 View PostThe smaller aluminum driveshaft has been on my car as long as ive owned it, its weathered all of my powershifting and a 12.5 second pass at the strip already. a 4" diameter dampener won't cause much rotating mass when a) it isn't rotating from a dig b) it's diameter is so small. Yes, I know, there are plenty of other factors...I just leave it to engineers with an education that far surpasses my WMU experience

Yeah the one I just installed in my car is definitely the one with the damper.- Brian Meissen

On a somewhat related note is it possible to have a vibration from the rear end of the car even if it isnt making any noise? My pinion leaks like a sieve even with a fresh seal. Wondering if isnt the DS that is my problem.-Joel

It is purely speed related and seems to come from the middle/rear of the car. Gear/clutch etc doesnt matter. I am due for a tire rotation however, good thought. I'm somewhat jumping to conclusions that it is driveline related since it started immediately after I broke (and fixed) the ujoint cap.Originally posted by nascarnate326 View PostAre you in 5th and 6th gear when you have this vibration? Could be the T56
Is it new since your clutch?
What about wheels, have you rotated them to see if a wheel weight got messed up?-Joel

At the trans or 180 on the pinion yoke? I've had it out tons of times since ive owned the car, never had an issue before.Originally posted by 1BADAIR View PostDid you mark it when you took it out. They are clocked during assemble and with shake if not. Mopar used big yellow dots and if you don't line them up your teeth will hurt-Joel

Tje dampener os for balancing unfortunately when the rubber wears it creates vibrations in itself. To tell if they are stock when you do u joints see if they are injection molded in, never geat them to melt the plastic inside though never ever.91 Trans am, 305, Lt1 cam, 24lb injectors, headers, SLP LM2, SW chassis, massive panhard, lowered, modded TPI, Tuned, 4.10s, Lincoln locked
