    I'm speed density. No maf.

But my opti could stand to be replaced. I've had to take it apart
And clean it to get it to run my lt1 again. And I still need new wires.

As for plug gap. I just pulled them from the box and installed them.
Its what I always to. I used to check them but they all would come back
To what I needed thwm gapped to anyway.

But yes I've cleaned my TB and ran injector cleaner. Didnt seem
To do much. I'm thinking about the side pipes idea forsure.

But would really rather run a y and catback for better backpressure.

      fixed!

Like I said, in my opinion dynos are useful for tuning, not much else.
Track times really show how it performs. 1000hp is only impressive if you can put it to the ground.

you ever seen sidepipes on a 4th gen before? the is a reason for it, sure as hell isn't any clearance or a good way to route them, KISS method is most effective here.

I would definitely set the spark plug gap! When i did mine they were all over .65 out the box. And it would be a cool idea, take some massive fabricating tho, probly trim the skirts up

Yeah ill double check the gap on them and be sure. The proper gap is 35??
If gapped wrong could these be the reason I'm getting a surging at 40?

Yes improper gap can cause issues like that. Id also go after that opti and wires. I clean my throttle body out once a month, I kinda have OCD with things like that but it gives me a reason to go drink a beer and open the tool box lol. The wife wonders why I clean my bonneville every weekend

No way. I watched an episode of Horsepower TV a while back, still have the episode, and they were convinced the 4th gen f bodies had at least the advertised crank hp at the wheels stock. They were just way too fast not to. They put a 94 and a 96 (275hp and 285 hp) on a rolling dyno and let them rip. these cars were "bone stock" remind you. They both put out 1-2hp more than the crank horse, and this was at the wheels. They said Chevy used the RWHP numbers for the advertised crank hp to keep insurance numbers down. I guess at the time, a car with more than 300 hp was nasty to insure. Stock 5.0's have low 200hp at the wheels and they're a joke compared to these cars stock. I know a few bolt on cars with 300+ rwhp. They damn sure didnt pick up 100hp from bolt-ons. 230 at the wheels is sloooow. these cars, even stock, were never "slow".

I would bet 230 to the wheels is on par for an auto car. From what ive read it seems that 260s is typical for 6 speeds.

I wonder why with a 6 speed yoi get more power to the ground??
I know that's prob a noob question. But the only thing I can think
Of that would make the difference is the fact that the engine doesn't
Have to sling around this huge converter full of fluid

That plus the internals of the trans cause a parasitic drain on the horse power, you have parts applying parts and holding parts so it robs hp

The torque converter is a loss of efficiency and even when that is locked (direct drive) you are delivering the power through planetary gears rather than standard ones.
