4l60e problems... yet again

I don't think it is the converter, it seems to stall up and brake stall fine. Still locks up at 45 mph like it did. The transmission feels like it is in neutral when it goes to shift into 3rd/4th. I used my scan tool to monitor the solenoids, it does try to shift into 3rd and 4th, well at least the command is made to them.Originally posted by nascarnate326 View PostWhat causes these auto trans problems?
Is it the stall thats the issue or the actual trans?
Too much HP?sigpic

Try overfilling the trans a little bit, maybe a 1/4 inch over full on dipstick. Most of my dead 60s did pretty much what yours is doing before they gave up 3rd all together. I have found either over fill it a little, or they love a deep truck pan and filter. But I haven't got more then a couple thousand miles out of any 4l60 I ever had once I started making a little powersigpicJust a slow 400 plus RWHP LT1.....428/370 NA

One trip to RPM and you'll know they mean business.
There were all kinds of vettes, fbody's, tbss's in the lot with out of state plates on them. Call and talk to one of the guys they know their shit. They sponsor one of the lanes at Munice dragway and have a handfull of test vehicles for R&D.
I wouldn't hesitate doing business with them again.2000 Formula

I had a deep pan/filter on this transmission. I will try to overfill it some tomorrow after work. I plan on shoving a somewhat stock trans I picked up yesterday in it for the time being. I will try to save up some cash to have a RPM by winter...sigpic

is it possible that this is electrical? If I start the car in 1 and shift it manually into 2 then 3 then 4 it acts fine and shifts pretty firmly. The first time you put in in over-drive it acts up. What is the difference? Is a solenoid commanded differently?sigpic

It has 1995 engine, pcm, wiring harness out of a 1995 Z28. The builder put all newer solenoids in it, probably cheapest he could find. He also put a new harness in it, and added an adjustable pressure solenoid with some funky looking wire nuts.Originally posted by FASHOOTER View PostDid u change any solinoids or harness when u put that 95 trans in your 96?Last edited by jderry; June 4th, 2013, 08:02 PM.sigpic

Have Frank Cahall at CPT build your trans and be done with it.... Dude knows his shit. Don't rule out the tuning, people make mistakes... But if it was working fine for a while before and all of a sudden your having issues i would suspect something mechanicaly wrong with it.Originally posted by jderry View PostIt has 1995 engine, pcm, wiring harness out of a 1995 Z28. I have put 500 miles on it, shifted great, after those storms went to put gas in it and it felt like garbage. It is just odd that if you start in 1 and manually go through the gears it works fine. Put it in OD and it always messes up.Originally posted by dawdaw View PostHave Frank Cahall at CPT build your trans and be done with it.... Dude knows his shit. Pulled my pan after work today, had some residue in the pan, seemed somewhat normal. My 2-3 solenoid is extremely loose in the valve body. Is this normal? It has a lot more play to it then the solenoid next to it.sigpic
