  • 4l60e problems... yet again

I was driving my car this morning, putting gas in it to go to the M&G tomorrow.
Was driving it pretty nicely, maybe 3000 rpm.
It went to shift into 3rd and flared. I pulled over, checked fluid and it was a bit past the full hot marking.

Drove my car home, it seemed to shift normally.

Just drove down my street and it did it again, then did it again trying to go into 4th.

    No DTCs
Fluid is full and seems to be clean
Transmission has 500 miles on it
Pressure seems to be good, will hit 200 psi in forward and 280 in reverse.

    Any ideas?

I am really damn tired with transmission issues.

I have seen Phil call them for a broken trans and have one in 1-2 days no questions asked at all, brand new unit.

It really bugs me that I cannot get it to act up every single time.

Also it has been acting weird since I put this transmission in, it would shift into OD and lock up at the same time if not at wot.

I just took it for a ten mile drive, only got it to mess up once, and that was pulling onto my street. It went to shift into 3rd and felt like neutral.

What level RPM transmission would suit my needs best?

I'll have to save some $$$ for a while.

FWiw - there's a sponsor on LTxTech, Frank Calahan I think is his name, and he is a well respected 4L60e builder. Not sure what your guys' thoughts are on him.

the tuner can kill the trans quickly also.
No idea what level mine is LOL. they stamped it as a level 1 or 2 as a joke

Yes, was thinking of getting one of these. Frank has some of his 4L60s in some very fast B bodies.
