kyles two posts are right on the money.

T56 swap, LS7 clutch and LS2 flywheel will solve your problems for a few years. Sucks that it costs good money but 6 speed is the way to go.

That or see if Mike will warranty your current parts.

Dam thing was sucking the pan dry. . Even after all that this rpm trans still works great. Thought for sure it would be smoked. Been trying to get Phil to take it back for a check up to make sure so I don't break it in the middle of the year but they keep saying nah. It's fine, throw a deep pan on.
Pretty sure everyone else's would have been smoked.
Had the same problem! Running it slightly over full with a deep pan, problem solved.

That's an awful idea. Call RPM. Order Level XX trans. Never look back.

Lol Phil and rpm pulled a joke on me. They stamp the top of each trans as what they are built as. Mine is a level 1. Lol

Am I reading correctly that people are putting down Ridings work? When did this start?

if your looking into a 4l80e theres a guy i saw on greatlakes4x4 who had one cheap that needed a converter and if your gonna have it hold some power then youll probably rebuild it anyways. i can ask if he still has it if your interested.

Well a Ridings converter took out the trans in my car when I got it. Don't get me wrong the car ran good with it but I'm glad I got rid of it. Phil told me he thinks a factory lockup clutch holds up better than a Ridings billet unit and I believe it.

seems like the start to your repair is a filter and fluid change as well as a new converter.

That would be a waste of time and money. The trans needs to be gone through and cleaned at a bare minimum.

the whole thing needs to be gone through just if a converter is toast? how old is his tranny? id agree on a rebuild but if it doesnt need it and the converter didnt fry anything and theres no shaving id say try the converter see if it fixes it and then decide.

When the converter takes a shit it send metal and friction materiel into the valve body and through the whole trans.

This is what my pan looked like after the converter failed

The trans needs to be opened up..

The trans was rebuilt last summer, less than 7k on it since then.

The lockup clutch going bad is what cooked the last 2 trannys, thats why I stepped up to a billet cover this time. I will be REALLY upset if thats what caused it again this time. Since the converter didnt come from the trans shop that did the work they are talking about not warrantying the trans. Idk what ill do then

Probably get it up in the air tonight and pull the pan I guess...
