actually, change of plans with another question. swapping gears to 4.10s just simply isnt in my budget right now.. so how will a T56 act with 2.73s? or a similar sized gear..

Truth. Car will feel like a dog. Get 3.42's at least. Or find a way to make 4.10's happen.

It's not the price of the actual ring and pinion. There all within 30 bucks from 3.73 -4.56
It's just the rebuild kit and labor involved that drove the price to 500

                  I'm running 4.11's w/ 28" tall tires, 4L60E trans.

Chose the gearing strictly because it's perfect for me to be almost at max RPMs in 3rd gear at the end of the 1/4 mile with my current power level.

On the highway in OD it's not bad at all.

Stock rear end in a T56 equipped car would have been a 3.42 gear set. . . Just find a working used rear end with 3.42's, pull yours out, and rebuild it yourself as you can afford parts. The car will still be driveable, won't feel like a dog, and you will be working towards something even better at the same time. You can pick them up all day for $200-$250.

                      With 2.78's you'd have to cruise @ 120mph to use 6th gear.

according to the math. the difference at 3k RPM in first is only 7mph. and redline is 12 mph..

been doing a lot of research.. it seems to be about 60/40 as far as driveabilty goes. There is a lot of people who bought m6 cars that had been swapped but the 2.73 was never changed.. and they had no issue. (the 40%) and then there is the 60% of people who agree with you guys ( as well as myself). so i think im going to driving around with 2.73s for a while.

as long as i dont encounter any hills.. i should be okay.. i hope..

Is 200 a good price to get gears installed ? How many hours does it normally take ?
