When you break down the price (make sure to add what you would pay for a torque arm+mount), quality, weight, fit and finish, and also strength, then you'll see why the MWC is a steal. IMO if you're going to compare all 3 different rears (strange, moser, MWC) then the only fair comparison is to option the MWC with strange nodular case which is standard, and the true trac. That MWC rear will cost the same or very close to any other rear with the same options but with a free torque arm and mount of your choice
and ummm not to mention lighter, maybe stronger, and fits just like the 10-bolt with NO clearance issues! Now add in options like yukon thru-bolt, wavetrac, backbrace etc. and the price of a MWC 9 kind of just snowballs out of control lol.
All my suspension is stock so a MWC 9" was a no brainer for me. Like you, I want to do some RR so I wanted a rear the weighs close to the 10-bolt. The extra un-sprung weight plays a roll in a how a car turns and the ride quality

false.. you can build a regular moser 9 with a torque arm for around 3 grand.. 1000 dollars is a bit extra.. lol

Just a basic setup yes - and you can get a MWC basic setup for $2750Originally posted by kammi10 View Postfalse.. you can build a regular moser 9 with a torque arm for around 3 grand.. 1000 dollars is a bit extra.. lol
Add options to the moser like backbrace, lower control arm relocation brackets, drain plug, etc. and watch the price climb.2000 Formula

im ordering a moser 9 housing and axles this week, 35 spline axles, spool, relocation backets, back brace, fill and drain plugs and its still 1400 shipped to my house.. add a strange nodular case at 300 bucks, and gears at 150, and im at 1850, add a nice set of brakes and im still under 2750. none of it with cheap stuff what so ever. add in a torque arm and you can still be under 2750 like the basic MWC one. and if you dont need to get brakes you can be way under that price.Originally posted by Nocooler View PostJust a basic setup yes - and you can get a MWC basic setup for $2750

FYI never go directly through moser to order stuff from them. if going through a dealer you can get at least a 15% savings..

i have my stock ls1 brakes i can use. cant i use my stock torque arm? or is that a bad idea? my car has an eibach pro kit, so do i need lca relocation brackets? is the "case" the differential cover?98 z28, m6, monster clutch, eibach pro kit, custom twin turbo setup, 317 heads, z06 valve springs, arp rod bolts, 512rwhp at 10lbs. cobra eater

the stock torque arm is a piece of shit to put it nicely. it will not help put power to the ground like u want to., yes u need relocation brackets.. will also help with traction with them. and yes the case is the thirdmember case which is what u are calling the diff cover.. on a 9 inch the whole gear assembly comes out the front and the gears and diff unit all come out with the case. its not like a 10 bolt where u just take the cover off the backOriginally posted by Gaspo View Posti have my stock ls1 brakes i can use. cant i use my stock torque arm? or is that a bad idea? my car has an eibach pro kit, so do i need lca relocation brackets? is the "case" the differential cover?

ok thanks sean. when i do torque arm, should i be mounting the torqe arm to the body instead of the trans?Originally posted by kammi10 View Postthe stock torque arm is a piece of shit to put it nicely. it will not help put power to the ground like u want to., yes u need relocation brackets.. will also help with traction with them. and yes the case is the thirdmember case which is what u are calling the diff cover.. on a 9 inch the whole gear assembly comes out the front and the gears and diff unit all come out with the case. its not like a 10 bolt where u just take the cover off the back98 z28, m6, monster clutch, eibach pro kit, custom twin turbo setup, 317 heads, z06 valve springs, arp rod bolts, 512rwhp at 10lbs. cobra eater

Yes, you want a tq arm that does not mount on the trans. Being that your car is lowered is why you want lca relocation brackets to put some angle back in them. Here's a picture to give you an idea, like ninja said there isn't a cover everything goes out the frontOriginally posted by Gaspo View Postok thanks sean. when i do torque arm, should i be mounting the torqe arm to the body instead of the trans?

didn't know there was that much markup on moser....good to know. When I was looking I talked to Bob @ EPP/Brute Speed and then someone @ DTS.Originally posted by kammi10 View Postim ordering a moser 9 housing and axles this week, 35 spline axles, spool, relocation backets, back brace, fill and drain plugs and its still 1400 shipped to my house.. add a strange nodular case at 300 bucks, and gears at 150, and im at 1850, add a nice set of brakes and im still under 2750. none of it with cheap stuff what so ever. add in a torque arm and you can still be under 2750 like the basic MWC one. and if you dont need to get brakes you can be way under that price.

You have 2 options: Long arm (stock length) or short arm. I've seen both styles work well. The only thing I don't like about my short arm is: it limits exhaust options.Originally posted by Gaspo View Postok thanks sean. when i do torque arm, should i be mounting the torqe arm to the body instead of the trans?2000 Formula

that is true about the exhaust.. for what he wants to do with the car be it both road racing and drag a trans mounted one will work better. the longer they are ive heard it better for that while the short body mounted ones are better for drag racing

You will need to get a Relocation crossmember also. Don't want all that load on the transmission.
