Transmission being weird at the track

I took my car to MIlan the other day.
It would go through 1st 2nd and 3rd all the way to 6,000 rpm


When it shifted into 4th it wound down to 4,500 and would not seem to go any higher, felt like it fell on it's face.

Also it does not seem like my converter is lokcing up, if I let off the gas at about 60 it feels like it's dragging, as soon as the car shifts down into 3rd the feeling goes away.

You should't be shifting to 4th @ WOT. 4th is not made to handle that kind of power. You either need to turn your rev limiter up, go to a taller tire, or a taller gear.

You shouldn't be locking your converter @ WOT either. Not only will you cut the life of the lock up clutch in half but your not going to gain anything at your power level. If anything the car might slow down.

X2, how are you in 4th in the quarter?

The tires are a 245/55/16
The gear is a 3:42
I don't know why it goes into 4th at the track
It does the dragging feeling only when you let off, after any throttle.
The rev limiter is at 6,000.
No cats.
Fluid is always cool (less than 185*) And was clean.

6000 in 3rd is around 130

Would an ABS inop light have any side effects on anything?

your going to mess up the trans going WOT in 4th as mentioned something is way off. Did you change the tune to accommodated for the new gears?

I have had the gears in the car for over two years so not so new, but yes my tune was done by mad tuner, with everything up to date as the car sits now.

I'm confused how you say it wouldnt go any higher than 4500 RPM in fourth but you also only experience the problem after you let off the gas? Which is it?

Unless you are winding down from like 220 mph, i would think you should only be turning like 2000 RPM in OD after letting out of the throttle. The car should definitely not be shifting into OD at WOT.

Even if you are maxing third gear at the track, which you shouldnt be, it should just bounce the rev limiter instead of shift.

Definitely shouldn't be going into OD.. I have 3:73's and I want to say I'm around 5900 going through the lights..

Wouldn't you want less gear? Taller gear and taller tire do different things.
