the block and crank should handle a lot, but I'd recommend at least using 4 bolt mains.Doing less with more

Are you an apple fanboy?
No offense, our need to do a lot more research before even thinking about building your engine.

Agreed, learn more first, go from there. Now for the question, N/A, I would say about 500-550 rwhp would be a maximum threshold on a thinwall late model block. Boosted, im not sure. But you could always do a half fill on the block, but it will severly cut down on your lower cylinder wall cooling and colling system capicity. If someone was trying to build a MAX effort 4th gen, I would recomend switching to an LSX aftermarket block, or convert to a conventional aftermarket old style sbc. Than the skys the limit. Eric L

As mentioned above,do your research first. If this is your first time building a motor, ask questions..What are your goals, street car, dragster? If money is tight save up til you have enough to build it the right way.I always use ARP fastners, head bolts,mains,rods,etc..Dont get mad and have fun,and take your time.

If you want more than 400 rwhp, go LSX. Anything more than that is hard on the opti. You can delete the opti but unless your a diehard LT1 fan the money could be sent buying LSX stuff.
Personally a 5.3 LS motor with some headers and a wicked cam would be fun.1998 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 - 6 Speed

If your going for 400-425 rwhp, its not that hard with an LT1. Im getting ready to build one now. Many have already done it. Now if you want 450 to 475 rwhp, and daily driveability, thats when id suggest switching. If you want 500 na rwhp, IMHO, your retarded, buy a turbo, lol. Eric L

15 degree cylinder heads are hard to compete with, lol. Were 8 degrees short, lol. Eric L

Just put a turbo on it Jeff. Make life easier. If I had the extra money for the head unit and intercooler, id be building a D1 or D2 procharged LT1, lol. Eric L
