      Got a tailshaft housing!

Along with a new speed sensor as mine was trashed by the output shaft splines, and a rear seal.

So, just waiting on my driveshaft..... hint hint.....

Hell of a stroke of luck today, just kept falling into parts, hopefully I can keep that rolling.

Are we all in agreement that however scary that play looks in my output shaft, it is acceptable?

Congrats on getting the parts, Spencer! Happy to hear she'll be back on the road soon. So far the ones who have experience with tailshafts have said it's acceptable.

            I have no idea.

At this point, whats the worst that could happen? Broken trans?

Yea, I just wasn't sure if any play was acceptable.

FWIW, my factory rev limiters in all my LT1s were always set at 5850 rpm as well. Eric L

Next question, since my trans guy wont get with me... Now that I have all my parts, im going to put it together tonight, do I drop the pan? There should be no need right? Car is held when in park, and rolls in all other gears.

Also, since the trans only drained down to tailshaft level, how much fluid should I be looking to go buy? Dont want to buy a gallon if I dont need it, just a couple quarts low?

Also, my trans originally had a big booted seal on the end of the tailshaft for my DS yoke, but when i bought a seal yesterday it was a standard one. Should I take it back and get a booted one? Which one is our cars supposed to have?

                          Back on track....

Got the new speed sensor and tq arm mt/bushing installed on the tailshaft housing, and the housing on the trans. Then got the tq arm put back on and the drive shaft put in (thanks a million jeff!). Ran to Advance auto to get a poly trans mount (fyi almost all the autoparts stores have them for our cars, there not in the computer, just look down the aisle for sections of them its the standard GM rwd mount), went to put the trans X-member in and huston, we have a problem....

When I put the car together last year I use the v6 x-member and trans mount, it all bolted up, so why not? Apparently the v6 and v8 AUTO trans x-members are different. So now I REALLY need a V8 AUTO trans x-member. The part is stamped with those words. If anyone has one please let me know, im looking to get this tomorrow, it is literally this one piece holding me up. I will drive a good distance for this.
