The fact it was a complete 360 degree fracture is pretty crazy.

I guess if were me Spencer, To be on the safe side when you get tail piece I would change u joints Just to be sure you don't have a bad bearing going and didn't notice it. U joints are only 15.00. also I would really think strongly about having your drive shaft balanced.

Yup, 3.42's, 6400rpm on the first pull. He didn't get that far on the second pull, only 5900 iirc and he shut it down because he felt a vibration.

And as he did that, we saw it piss out the tailshaft.

So here is the deal he told me it's a 700R trans which is the same housing and etc. The only thing I would be worried about is if it's earlier then 4th gen being a 700R how the torque bar installs on the trans. So he will take a look at the trans when he gets home and give me a call to let me know for sure. The guy is out of the Cheasing area and could either bring the part to me at work or figure someother way to pick up. I don't think he wants the trans at all so you might have to take the whole thing. If he brings it to me you can get from my house since I live 5 seconds from your house. Not that we have ever talked but I know your car. Also have you tried local transmission shops? Phils, Jims

so then why was it acceptable for LT1s to come with a steel driveshaft using the same transmission and torque arm?

must be the 3.42 gear? that wouldnt affect a 1:1 at redline though.

well i thought the stock rev limiter was 6200 but apparently its 5850, and phils dyno agreed with that.... i need to watch my digital tach cause i swear ive been in the 6k range with mine and my rev limiter is factory.
