  • Shaved Door Handles?

Anybody know anything about shaving door handles or have had them shaved? I am looking to paint my car this spring and wanted to know what everyone's expirience with those kits were. Also does anybody know if Viper has door popper kit? Or anybody know of one that will work with my Viper alarm?

i have never done it personally but people that i have talked to have not had any problems with the kit but it depends on wich one you go with. you know what they say you get what you pay for.

we have a guy on our site who can get them. His name is Rich and he owns a company called Barley Legal. The do all sorts of stuff there for cars and trucks. 989-671-3729.
Tell him Todd from BayCityRides told you to call.
      This is what he said:
we can do $229.99 for a two door kit(we can match or beat any price on these kits out there)which includes:
AUTOLOC SVPRO3 8 Channel 35lb remote shaved door kit includes 2 remotes, 2 35lb solenoids, mounting hardware & wiring

only thing is if you plan to run your car at the track......you need door handles.

I did not know that... Hmm... Maybe I have better just paint them to match?

thats what I plan on doing. I might shave my locks off though. Or just paint them the same color as the car. I'm still up in the air on that one. If you have an alarm with the power locks.....who uses the key? And if your battery goes dead, you always have the rear hatch LOL!
I wanted to shave my handles too. But I want to have fun with it also. So I just decided to paint them.

thats what im doing to mine i have to get keys made for the door locks anyway so im taking the handles out and painting them black to match the car plus it gives it that custom look.

To do it right.....your suppost to take them out. I wouldnt leave them in when I paint a car. Thats like leaving the ground effects on when you paint it too. Everything comes off. Well, almost lol.

The problem with shaving on a 4th gen is finding someone that can plastic weld or use some other technique to fill the holes in the plastic skin of the door. It's not like 3rd gens where you can just weld the holes up since they're metal.

Yea know i never got into the shaved door handles. To much of a ricer mod to me i guess.

And because i didn't think you could run at a track and i got to be able to do that.

It is NOT a ricer mod. Hot Rodders have been shaving door handles since the 50's!

shaved door handles = bad idea, overrated, asking for problems, and they arent even that noticeable. Everytime I see them I just think of a better way the money could have been spent. (granted if the car is custom everything thats a different story)

No you are right, but you just dont see it on any sports car like you do on a ricer.

Now i can see doing it on a custom truck if thats the theme.

Don't do it unless you have a metal door. You are asking for trouble on 4th gens.
