on their site it doesnt look like it. i had a 4in glasstek cowl and i personally thought it fit like shit. corners where way high and the lines didnt match the fenders no matter what i did. (i didnt adjust the fenders, wasnt going to put my whole car outta whack for a hood.)

haha thanks anyways... I'll keep searching!!! A friend of mine may be able to get me a really good deal on an OEM SS hood. If not, I'll go with SLP probably, because I would rather spend the money and have it perfect than buy a cheap one that doesn't fit right and isn't returnable and then get the right thing.

When I checked with SLP two years ago the 96-97 SS hood was discontinued. Did they start making it again?

I know it doesnt help you any since we don't know the brand... but the hood I have could be made functional with a factory airbox. The vent is open.

Another fact I know about my hood is that the scoop baffle is actually from an LS1 SS hood (wider and narrower).

If the scooped was opened up it would do very little. I believe they did a comparison of a few 60s-70s muscle cars with hood scoops and most of them were more for appearance then function. For it to be function the scoop has to stick up very high because of how the air floes over the car.

Personally I prefer a heat extractor hoods as it lowers the temperature and pressure(less lift at higher speeds) in the engine compartment.

agreed. The only ram air systems that really work well on f-bodies are bottom feeders.

I definitely like the Lt1 version, better, because it is just "sharper" but either version looks good... I will take my chances with the slp version.... since they made the original... It is still available as far as I can tell. I basically want it to look badass as **** because it is a V6, so there is no point in doing any more performance mods... thanks for all of the advice guys...

The SLP 96-97 SS Hood is discontinued! They still offer the Grill insert on the website for 29.95. Hope you got a plan B?

Not sure if you addressed that at me or not, but the aftermarket hood i have is not the one with an LS1 scoop... just an LS1 scoop baffle.
