Yes you will! I'm thinking of heading out at about 3-4ish, but my grandparents are supposed to be stopping by for my birthday, and I don't know when they're going to be here, so it's in the air. I'm letting a couple of friends from school ride out with me, and Ben and Jen are supposed to be riding out at about 4 in the Jimmy. I just hope it's as nice Sunday as it was Saturday.

I was hoping to get the hood finished up today, with some paint on it, but I just got the 2nd coat of bondo on and sanded, and that was finished at about midnight, so I just primed the exposed bondo and called it a day. I still have yet to finish up with the evercoat and paint and everything, but I might do that on Tuesday or Monday evening or something. I'm almost done with the hood, then I'm going to get started on the rust. I'm about to weld in some patch panels on the quarter and rocker panels, then I'll prime that up and evaluate what else needs attention, then when all is said and done, I'll get the paint materials, and I'll paint it. The car will be looking really good by the time Camaro SuperFest rolls around, but I don't think the 'maro will be there this year, unless I take it to the Road Rally, which would be pretty sweet. I do a lot of hard work on my car, I don't want anyone judging it until I'm happy with it. Just my opinion. Hope you all like my hood, I've got many hours of hard work into it already, and plenty more to come. See you Sunday!

      • Just a heads up, depending on the weather and how cold it is outside, we don't stick around that late. Last night I think we left between 7 and 9

          • Nick, FYI there is a non judged drivers class for Superfest. It's a few bucks cheaper and they don't judge your car. You still get the goodie bag and everything, just no trophies. I've always entered the drivers class since I could care less about having my car judged.

              • because of the nature of a hood and the way it mounts i think its still endangered to cracking regardless of all the fiberglass and riveting. every time you hit a bump the center of the hood recoils a bit. youd be surprised how much a hood moves around. If my clutch chatters bad enough I can watch my SS scoop vibrate up and down at least 1/4" from inside the car. If i didnt have that SS scoop there id never see it. plus like brian says a hood also experiences a lot of heat cycling no other body part does.

I think a good precaution to take would be to weld some bracing on the underside of the hood. Itll be one heavy mother, but thats better than cracked bondo. Just trying to offer some insight, not saying you are doing a sub-par job by any means.

                • well im gonna say this.. first off nice damn job, its really shaping up. wish i could see it in person. secondly, i really don't like the way the scoops are so big, they seem to overtake the whole hood.. however.. your doing a nice job on it.. and im sure it will have a whole new appearance once it sits high and mighty on the car. lastly, friend of mine had a hood done professionally by custom shop that specializes in fiberglassing and stuff.. and the metal-plastic combo will crack.. i promise you.. however there are steps you can take ( and it sounds like your taking alot of them) to prevent the severity of it cracking. worst case scenario is youll just have to sand her down and repaint in the future.. no biggie.. but damn nice job friend of friends

Sorry Nick, while I think it's great that you are doing what you want and you like it. I personally just don't care for it. However, do what you like and keep up the great work. Oh, and keep us updated.

                              • It certainly looks better than those WS6 style hoods they have for Camaros. It doesn't stick up as far and blends in better. I think it will look pretty good once it's painted to match the rest of the car.
