  • Wanted: 70s-80s k-series pickup

As many here know ive been talking about buying an old chevy truck for a while. Figured id put this out there in case anyone knows of anything. Im in no hurry to buy, i want the right one.

My biggest dilema right now is i am lacking garage space. So while i am firm on buying something rust free or VERY close to rust free i dont want to pay the premium for a fully restored truck that ill feel guilty about parking outside until i can build my new garage. Would like to keep the price as close to 5k as possible, 8k at the very high end. Trucks in this condition/price range are a little hard to come by since many are either swiss cheesed or beautifully restored at this age.

K10 K20 K30 are all acceptable. big block or small block. Chevy or Gmc. Auto or manual. Long bed is highly preferred, needs to be a screaming deal for me to consider a short bed. Wont consider anything with a monster truck lift... 4" at most and body lifts are frowned upon. I'm fine doing some repairs but i dont want a project. A late 80s silverado 30 would be my ideal choice but theyre rare and pricey. I watch the metro detroit area craigslist like a hawk and there's been nothing fantastic in the last 3-4 months.

Some samples of what im looking for:

    Thanks!

            I am assuming you need a 4x4.

Tons, tons, TONS, of these trucks in TN, but most are 2WD.

Yep correct Jeff. i should probably clarify for the newbies:

              k-series = 4x4
              c-series = 2wd

that 1 ton could be a great restoration candidate. It clearly has some rust and he is suspiciously distant with the photos he's taken. But seems like a reasonable price for a loaded 1 ton.

The 80 shortbed is also gorgeous, i just really want a longbed.
