My friend is selling a winter vehicle and I think it's a steal.

2004 ford explorer 4x4 4 door. Blue in color. Cloth interior. 4.0 v6 - auto trans. I think it's near 200k but runs like a champ. New tires. I can confirm his asking price but I believe it's 3 grand.

I forgot to update this. I have found a 2002 ford focus zx5 with a manual for super cheap. It needed a couple of things including a slave cylinder, but it was delivered to my house for less than a grand. A couple hundred bucks and a couple days of work later, and its running and driving quite well. A little bit of rust(a ford thing), but overall quite clean.

Thanks for the offers though, I do struggle to find cars while looking.

I almost bought one of those before I got the Miata. They really can't be beat for the price.

I have considered a miata the last couple of years, it sounds like alot of fun, but not practical. The focus was so cheap, and sold by a friend so it was hard to pass up.
