i think they look better without the line pattern on them. i've always hated Pontiac's stencils over their taillights.

I like the honey comb more than the boxes, but still prefer the clean base model lights over the busy looking patterns. Different strokes/ different folks, someone's gotta have a base who wants boxy lights lol.

It's pretty well known in our little community that the LT1 style "Grid" pattern lights have a tendency to eventually have moisture problems, and after several years, the "grid pattern" inside the lens will separate from the lens, and they generally start to look like crap. The V6 style lights, and the LS1 "Honeycomb" lights don't suffer from this fate, which is why so many will choose one or the other over the stock LT1 grid lights.

I'm looking to "upgrade" to the honeycombs at some point, but I'm going to be tearing apart a set of LT1 grid lights to see if there's any way to remedy the problem. If there is, great. If there isn't, then I'll be saving my pennies for a new set. Either way, decent LT1 grid taillights are getting harder to come by.

Do 98-02 lights just bolt in? If I can't find the plain ones I might look for those.

I included a pic of my car to show their condition. There is some separating between the grid and lens but no moisture that I'm aware of.

Yes, they are direct replacements. No modifications needed. The 98-02 Honeycomb lights are rather expensive though. . .

Honeycombs are a great choice if you've got cash to blow.. I've got all my LS1 exterior mods. Just waiting on the taillights..

What kind of condition are your taillights in?

I'll have to keep that in mind! I'd rather spend the money towards a LQ9 swap than taillights. Then 98+ front end, I hate driving a car that looks like an old Dirt Devil.

The taillights don't bother me THAT much, but if I could trade for some that I like more then I'd love to.

Does this mean rear bumper is a direct swap too?
