  • looking for complete ls1/ auto trans combo

looks like i'm picking up a 99 camaro on saturday. guy pulled the motor and trans out for a different project, from what i gathered. i'd like to put a motor/trans in and either buy one of huron speed's complete turbo kit, or just sell the car. i'd prefer the combo have less than 100k miles on it and be well taken care of. i dont want to put junk in here. let me know what you have, miles/condition and price. thanks guys/gals

usually the turbo guys prefer to have the iron blocks. It would be much cheaper to put in a LQ4 or LQ9. The extra weight isn't going to make a huge difference. ~60 lbs

If was in your position that is what I would do. I kinda wish I was in your position but I would keep in NA install a cam, and drive the piss out of it...sell the me car!

edit- the only bad part is you would have to factory in some extra money for a different intake, oil pan, accessories, and a few other things.

I have a engine/trans/harness & ecm in the garage. I'd only need the shell and ls1 k member. But, I still want to put that setup in the '60 Impala

trust me jeremy stick with the iron block. if you can go LSX if your going to run much more than 15 psi. stock ls is 4 head bolts per cyl. while the LSX is 6. then your head wont lift. if your fine with around 15 psi or less then just do the iron block.

Just go pick up a junk yard 5.3 and throw 12-15 PSI at it. Those things seem to be super stout in stock shortblock form compared to LS1's and LQ motors.
