  • Looking for 4l60e for early LM7 5.3

I'm looking around for a used 2wd 4l60e to put behind a 5.3l LM7. The motor will be going into a 1960 Impala, so I could use a higher stall torque convertor as well. It will be a cuiser for my old man to knock off #1 on his bucket list - West coast tour via the old Route 66 and a hitting the Nothern route back.

    The motor (99 LM7):
I have a Z06 cam, LS2 valve springs, LS1 intake and fuel rail, truck harness & PCM, 24# injectors from a Grand Marquis (USCAR/EV6), and might have a mild port/polish job done.

If it needs rebuilt, that can be done, but the price needs to be cheap

Will do, thank you for the tip. Looking to stay under $500. I know it sounds cheap (we are Dutch ) but my pops has done entirely too much for me over the years and I'd like to help him out where I can. Times are tough, he took the early retirement from Delphi and got hosed on his 401k, pension, medical, etc. so its the least I can do. My butchers wages don't only allow for Brentish things

New rockers, rear quarters, and complete floor pan to go in this winter. Bought my father an Eastwood spot/stitch welder setup for the 220 arc, our Lincoln 110 mig has never worked well.

My dad got into buying classic cars a while back, but due to Dephi boning the retired salaried folks on their pension and health most had to go. Sold most of the project cars -72 Vette, 62 Tbird (yuck), and 62 Impala Convertible...hurt to see that one leave on a truck bound for Cali. This one stayed since my dad doesn't want to put the miles on his 64 Sting Ray (300hp 327, 58k original miles, a true survivor)

Everyone in the family has a classic except for my twin sis:
Mom - 67 Chevelle Malibu Convertible
                    Brother - 68 Camaro RS
Older sis - 67 Firebird Convertible. Her husband has a 1958 Mercedes SL190.
Me - Sold my first car, 69 Chevelle, after I blew the motor and then bought the 55 Bel Air

Buying the 55 was bad choice in retrospect, I didn't realize just how damn expensive it would be to do a full resto on it.

very nice man, i come from a family of classics as well. I'm the only black sheep with a 90s ride Dad has a 70 nova SS 396, and i have uncles and cousins with mopars: 70 AAR cuda, 70 challenger SE 440-6 with an original shaker hood, and a 68 coronet RT 440. A 59 impala has been my dream cruiser for the last 3-4 years. I'm hoping to snag one relatively cheap one of these days (before I hit 30!) but a house needs to come first in the sequence

I just saw one pop up on craigslist the other day. I think it was a roller, looked in relatively good shape, and the price was CHEAP. I can no longer find it though...probably sold within hours.

GM only family here, the Tbird was part of a package deal with the 62 Impala

There was an extremely clean biscayne roller on CL that was entirely complete minus engine for $4k about this time last year. All the work was done already, just needed some putting together. REALLY wish i could have snagged that one! There will always be more deals though, not worth putting my financial well being on the line. Unfortunately I think more people are starting to take interest in them looking at how 50s cars are selling at barrett jackson. seemed like most people only wanted the 60s models a few years ago and these were cheap.
