Im in need of a tech 2

I have a 2001 malibu with the normal issues of the passlock shutting off the car at random times and most dangers places.

I replaced the lock cylinder, the electronic part that the lock cylinder goes in... done a lot of reading and spent about 300.00 only other thing is that there could be a communication issue between the passlock and bcm. Car cranks and cranks but no start, let it sit for 20 mins or even till the next morning and it will start like there are no issues. Checked grounds, loose wires and connectors, fuses, no check engine light, have proper fuel pressure. This car was my grandfathers and he cant drive anymore and was given to me about a year ago. My brother just uses it for school and part time job, car has less then 67k on it.

Does anyone have a tech 2 that could re sync the passlock and bcm and check for codes for me.

thanks im looking for the big body tool thats like 5k to buy one, not the little 2 hundo one from autozone or murrays

I just had this same problem on my buddies 01 malibu as well..I replaced that sensor in the ignition and that took care of the problem..I talked to alot of GM techs and they all told me 95% of the time that is the problem..Where did you get the parts from?Did you try a different key?

we tried a new lock cylinder and that came with a new key, what sensor are you talking about ? is it the plastic one that the lock and key slide into?

Yes,if you installed a new ignition lock cylinder and key..I believe you have to have the key programmed to the pass lock.
