It's cuz they are the best. No, but they could be if they would lower their price, and make more stuff compatible with them.

I don't like macs, I never have. I guess I'm just old-fashioned. I like my viruses Virus-ey, my crashes Crash-ey, and my windows tragically screwed up. lol

Is there any way to improve my gaming experience with the laptop I have? Buying a new one is out of the question, I shelled out over $1100 for this one less than a year ago, I won't even get enough to buy a used Alienware if I threw it on EBay.

cram as much memory into it as possible. Also, you could check to see what chipset the current laptop is and see if you can upgrade the CPU chip in the motherboard... that could help. That's what I like about mine, the chip socket is the same for the Centrino Duo as it is for the Core 2 Duo's chip socket, so in 2 years or so when my CPU speed is obsolete, I can upgrade to the core 2 duo.

You can always change your choice of games to older ones. Strategy wise: Starcraft Action-wise: Quake2, unreal tournament, & half-life are still fun.

You won't have much luck playing newer games that run off the newer directx engines, you could try just turning down all the settings and resolution.

btw, started playin with the computer, man do they preload these things with a ton of junk, hardware wise it was exactly what i wanted but i turned it on for a couple of seconds and reformatted it right after that. Running xp pro sp2 right now off a clean install and its workin awesome.

I think the max I can cram in there is 1GB, it's at 512mb right now. Will I notice much of a difference running GTA3 at full 1280x800 resolution? it only operates smoothly now at about 640x480 . . . lol I want to upgrade to XP Pro SP2, but the only way to do that is to go with my illegal copy, I was trying to stay legal. . . I guess it doesn't really matter anymore. If I can get much better performance from a fresh install over the 1-1.5 year old stock install, I'll do it.

Macs now use intel processors instead of the IBM PowerPC crap.

Its getting closer to being one and the same hardware wise... then you can just buy your comp and reformat to OSX.
