exactly LS is not for a budget project, you can have just as much fun and as much power picking up a 350 and going 355, 383 or even like Jeff said find a 400. CL is a good place to pick up cheap blocks and even complete engines.

      I agree with Jeff.
Find James's thread when he swapped his. He did the whole drive train. We all know it wasn't cheap. Sure if you have the $$ it's a great route to go. LOL...I keep telling him we can swap cars any time HAHA!!

I'll be taking the TPI out of my car and getting a 350 or a 400 sbc to build and tossing a carb on it. I'm a little old school myself. I love the sound and feel of a lumpy cam.

Best of luck with your project! Be sure to take some pics! We all would love to see it.

One small thing I just thought of...if you do go carb'd (with any option), do some measurements on your chosen intake/carb/air cleaner assembly and make sure you will still clear your stock hood...

Saw a 84 Corvette yesterday that somebody swapped out the Crossfire FI and put a carb on it...how do I know?

'Cause they had to chop a hole in the hood to get it to fit...

no more than 1500 for the motor(complete) and in the end im not sure. Probably no more than 3000 in the end.

When the rear end's loose, the car's fast. Loose is fast, and on the edge you're out of control.

Possibly could bid on some? copart.com

My buddies picked up their winter beaters there to store the fbodies. Get a wrecked one and just take the motor and trans/ whatever you need. Always another option.
