But if I do a 300+hp 305 and T5 combo will be fun on woodward for extremely cheap. Like $500 cheap, with parts that can switch back to or are from a 350. But again you want a fast car you dont start with a 305/T5 base. You would simply just dump it and upgrade.
if at any time you are attempting to limit your power production, i would refrain from calling that "decent power"

and even then, that would reinforce the idea of a 302 build because even if you make good horsepower with that its not going to have a whole lot of torque due to the short stroke.

Yes that is true. I understand 305 = Boat motor, but 305 is what came in my car I already looked into swapping a 350/T56 or LT1 or something of the sort, probably not worth it into the car that I have. Be better just to buy another car something with a 350 or LT1 or LS1 or so on... Not a concern right now, but having a lil fun with what you already have cant be all that bad can it?

I have one in my car, a 350 out of my car and I am going to snag a 305 out of another members garage for free, believe it or not I need a few things from that motor that I could use on mine ATM. But I know what you mean I already "have" all the parts to spice up a boat anchor besides a cam but then again those arent expensive and can be re sold or swapped.

Dave is the one looking now! haha
