Nice. Glad someone else could help you out. My dad had just told me that were going to change the lifters and drop the 305 back in the Maro until the motors built.

just curious why would you want to build a small bore 305 when 350 blocks are readily availiable at the same price.

Joel- i need tot alk to you about the GVSU Car show. im waiting to be able to register and wonderred if you needed any help setting anything up or anything like that. and im not really sure. just figured 305s are alot easier to get then a 350

Sean- again im not really sure. im looking for cheap. like really really cheap/free. just something to play with i mean if i could find a 350 for under 100 bucks with intake to pan. so i have all the dumb stuff like all the brackets and timing cover and all that then i would be interested. but i havent been able to find a super cheap 350 anywhere

I am not sure what Dave wants one for but I am purely picking this one up for experimental fun reasons. No point in taking the car down the whole year messing with that 305 in my car so why not mess with something outside the car? This way I still can take the car to the paint shop and do some other running around.

well im not looking to build a 1000hp motor or anything lol. mainly just a motor i can clean up real nice make it look good. maybe a small cam. and whatnot. just something so next winter or if my 305 now takes a dump ill have something else to drop in.

I was hoping to have registration up this weekend but ill be honest, myself and the guy that were gonna work on it stayed at the bar a little longer than scheduled We might need some volunteers the day of, but planning we should have under control.

I would strongly advise against a 305 then. 350s were in everything and you can find them everywhere. Youre not going to make decent power with a small bore block, period. If you do it will be an uphill struggle.

Whats the definition of decent power? But anyways I was just messing around with an engine, and unfortunately a T5 wont stand up to a 350 even in stock form very well... But a 300HP 305 could be a little fun... especially when you are messing around with something in the back of the garage just to do it with no real purpose in mind. Personally I wanted to pick one up to put on a engine stand and mess around with, a 300+hp 305 is not un heard of and its quite easily done and cheaply as well. Not looking to run you heads up Joel but looking to have a little fun.

I'd much rather take a 350 block and build a 302 with a 3" stroke crank. Can make way more than 300 horsepower with that, its already been done from the factory.

There are reasons to go with a short stroke, but I dont know of any reason to go with a smaller bore unless you want gas mileage. 4" bore is ftw in a budget build no matter what IMO.

Unless you have a T5 transmission and refuse to cough up $1200+ plus to switch over to a T56... Just not worth it. That will be my next car But I am not building anything here... But if I do a 300+hp 305 and T5 combo will be fun on woodward for extremely cheap. Like $500 cheap, with parts that can switch back to or are from a 350. But again you want a fast car you dont start with a 305/T5 base. You would simply just dump it and upgrade.
