choosing the right cd player

I'd run 2 way in the dash for a clearer sound. 3-ways have to push bass out of them.

So far I haven't been able to find 4x6 3-ways. I found 5-way 6x9"s! From what I see though the other 2 ways are for the tweeters. I did some research and anything higher than 3-way is irrelevant in most cases because how often do you have music with super high-pitch noises?

I knew 5.25" didn't sound right, I dunno why the hell I kept thinking that, I knew they were 4x6s...oh well.

Yeah, exactly what Mark said, only run 2-way front speakers.

And since you'll wanna run 3-ways in the back, set the fade one or two notches to the back, to put less strain on the front speakers. It'll sound much better.

I don't know how tight those 4 by 6's are in the dash, but if there is any room at all i would suggest going with a 6.5" speaker. They have better sound output than most 4x6's you will find, but again i don't know how much room your working with. When looking for speakers look for a set that have a really low and high frequency response, and always remember the higher the db number the louder they will get with less power. If you take a speaker that has a db rating of 85 and a speaker with a rating of 90db and feed them the same power, the 90db speaker will sound much louder. Also if you are planning to just run them off of the cd player power, look for speakers that have an rms value of around 50 watts, because otherwise you will never power the speakers enough to see their true potential. The depth of the dash speakers on a 3rd gen is 1.75" which the 6.5"s seem to have, but I'm cool with the 4x6"s.

that wattage is per speaker, but if you buy an external amp you can go higher, and you will have much better sound. Your internal amp on your cd player has quite a bit of distortion and does not have the capability to make good "clean" power. It's totally up to you, if your used to stock buying new speakers and a cd player will sound incredible.

Yeah, in my dad's van, he's running an Alpine headunit, utilizing only the pre-outs, and goes into a 6-channel A/D/S amp, with A/D/S door speakers and tweeters, and a pair of Kicker 6" subs behind the seats. Needless to say, the system sounds GREAT. Drowns out the sound of how shitty his truck runs...

Awesome. It was confusing me on ebay when it said RMS 90 then down in the spec area it said 45. Why do they write "90" when it's not really 90?

Stereo is two channel, left and right.

That's odd, it said RMS 90W and the 45W down somewhere? Should be the other way around. Generally, RMS is what it can sustain for longer periods (usually what is advertised - for example, my amplifier that I have is 1000W Max, but it's only about 460W RMS) wattage handling.

A regular head unit is four channel.

Front left, front right, left rear, right rear.

A/D/S was a brand. They made some AWESOME shit, but I believe the dissolved recently.
